A closure includes first and second closure portions. The first closure portion includes a polymeric top wall portion and an annular skirt portion. The skirt portion includes exterior and interior surfaces. The interior surface includes an internal thread formation for mating engagement with an external thread formation of a container and at least one rotation-inhibiting projection. The rotation-inhibiting projection is located to contact the external thread formation. The rotation-inhibiting projection is in the general shape of the letter 'C' prior to engagement with the external thread formation of the container. The second closure portion includes a polymeric tamper-evident band.

A closure includes a polymeric top wall portion, a polymeric annular skirt portion, a polymeric continuous plug seal and a polymeric top seal. The annular skirt portion depends from the polymeric top wall portion. The annular skirt portion includes an internal thread formation for mating engagement with an external thread formation of a container. The polymeric annular skirt portion includes an interior surface and an exterior surface. The plug seal depends from the polymeric top wall portion. The continuous plug seal is spaced from the interior surface of the polymeric annular skirt portion. The top seal includes sealing gussets integrally connected thereto. The top seal and the sealing gussets depend from the polymeric top wall portion. The top seal and sealing gussets are located between and spaced from the plug seal and the annular skirt portion.

A plastic closure embodying the principles of the present invention comprises a closure cap having a top wall portion, and an annular skirt portion depending from the top wall portion. The skirt portion includes an internal thread formation for threaded engagement with the external thread formation of an associated container. In order to facilitate high-speed application, and minimize the use of polymeric material, the closure is configured to exhibit a variation in retention force which decreases in a direction away from the top wall portion of the closure cap.

Plastic closure with enhanced performance

A plastic closure includes a top wall portion, and an annular depending skirt portion having at least one internal thread formation. In order to facilitate high-speed closure application to an associated container, the closure includes an application guide feature positioned in circumferentially spaced relationship to a thread start of the internal thread formation of the closure. The application guide feature is configured to engage the lower surface of an external thread formation of the associated container, whereby cocking, tilting, and other misalignment of the closure is avoided as it is applied to the container with high-speed application equipment.

A tamper-indicating plastic closure, and tamper-evident package includes a closure wherein the closure includes a pilfer band having a substantially continuous tamper-ring. The tamper-ring extends generally angularly upwardly and inwardly of the closure in a tamper-indicating orientation of the tamper-ring for engagement with a relatively enlarged annular locking ring of the associated container. The tamper-ring includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced projections, which comprise relatively thick regions or shoulders, which act to limit lateral movement of the pilfer band with respect to the container by engagement of at least one shoulder with the associated container generally beneath the container locking ring.
