An arm support for a personal mobility vehicle can include a first member having a first end that defines a first cavity, and a first attachment member that extends through the first cavity so as to define an axis. The arm support can further include a second member having a first end that is disposed within the first cavity such that the second member is pivotally attached to the first member by the first attachment member. The arm support can further include an actuator that extends through the first end of the second member and through the first cavity. The actuator can be operatively coupled to the second member such that actuation of the actuator causes the second member to pivot about the axis.

Adjustable limb support for personal mobility vehicles

A lift mechanism a power wheelchair includes linear actuators on opposing sides of the chair that provide a space into which a tilt mechanism can nest when the lift mechanism is in its retracted position. The linear actuators perform both the function of operating the lift mechanism and structurally supporting at least a part of the lift mechanism. The lift mechanism and tilt mechanism are each self-contained modules that can be optionally installed into the power wheelchair.

Lift mechanism and tilt mechanism for a power wheelchair

A wheelchair having a tiltable and translatable seat for compensating for shifting of the center of gravity of an occupant during tilting is provided. Such a wheelchair includes a frame, a first actuator, a seat assembly, and a first rigid link. The first actuator includes opposing front and rear ends coupled to the frame, a rod that extends between the front and rear ends, and a connector that is capable of translating in response to actuation of the rod. The seat assembly is directly coupled to the connector of the first actuator. The first rigid link has a front end and a rear end. The link front end is pivotably coupled to the frame, and the link rear end is pivotably coupled to the seat assembly. The link may be oriented such that as the connector translates, the first link impels the chair to tilt.

Apparatus for tilting a wheelchair seat

An extendable and retractable leg rest includes a first member which is mounted for rotation to a support. A second member supporting a footrest is coupled to the first member and slides relative to the first member as the first and second members rotate, extending away from the first member as the first and second members are rotated into a raised position and retracting toward the first member as the first and second members are rotated into a lowered position. Movement of the second member relative to the first member is driven by a third member coupled to the second member by a gear system.

Extendable and retractable leg rest

An articulating leg rest is provided having a first member pivotally connected to a base frame. The base frame may be either connected to or part of a wheelchair frame. A second member is telescopically received by the first member. A drive system includes a motor-driven lead screw. First and second housings each have internally threaded portions engaged with the lead screw. A link connects the first housing to the base frame. The second housing engages the second member. Rotation of the lead screw advances the first housing along the lead screw, moving the link and causing the first and second members to rotate relative to the base frame. Rotation of the lead screw also advances the second housing along the lead screw, causing the second housing to linearly translate the second member relative to the first member.
