A sequestration injection valve including a housing, a flow valve disposed in the housing, an injector assembly, the assembly having a ported inner sleeve and a ported outer sleeve, the inner sleeve and outer sleeve moveable relative to one another to more align or more misalign the ports in the inner sleeve and outer sleeve. A method for injecting sequestration fluid into a borehole including applying pressure to a flow valve in an injection valve, moving an inner sleeve of an injector assembly with the pressure, and automatically maintaining pressure differential at the injector assembly. A borehole system including a borehole in a subsurface formation, a string in the borehole, and a sequestration injection valve disposed within or as a part of the string.

A seal arrangement includes a body having a face seal, and a flexible arm extending from the body. The arm includes a contact seal. A flapper valve, includes a housing, a flapper and a flapper seat. The flapper seat includes a body having a face seal positioned to make sealing contact with the flapper in selected flapper positions A method for sealing a flapper valve includes closing a flapper toward a seat and making a seal, by deflecting a flexible arm of the flapper seat that supports a contact seal. An injection valve including a primary valve having a flapper, a flapper seat configured to seat the flapper, and a flow tube disposed to move relative to the flapper and thereby cause the flapper to be unseated from the flapper seat, a secondary valve disposed within the flow tube, the secondary valve including a secondary housing, and an openable and closable flow port through the secondary housing, and an annular pressure-drop ring disposed between the secondary housing and the flow tube.

Injection valve and method

A downhole tool including a valve portion having a valve housing including an inner chamber and an actuation tubular. The actuation tubular includes an outer surface, an inner surface defining a flow path, an upper end, and a lower end. A first spring extends about the outer surface of the actuation tubular between the upper end and the lower end. An actuator portion is detachably connected to the actuation tubular. The actuator portion includes an actuator housing, an actuator member arranged in the actuator housing, and a second spring operatively connected to the actuator member. The actuator member includes a first end portion operatively connected to the first spring and a second end portion. The actuator portion is selected and connected to the downhole tool to establish a selected actuation force through the second spring to compress the first spring causing the actuation tubular to shift within the inner chamber.

A tubing pressure insensitive failsafe wireline retrievable safety valve, borehole system having the valve and method of operation of the valve. The valve includes a tool housing, a flow tube disposed within the tool housing, an actuation piston disposed in the tool housing and operably connected to the flow tube, the actuation piston having an actuation side and a pressure side, and a fluid pathway between a potential leak site for the valve and the pressure side of the piston. A temporary sealing member is in the fluid pathway between the potential leak site and the pressure side of the piston. The method includes disposing the valve at a selected location and removing at least a portion of the temporary sealing member from the fluid pathway after landing the wireline retrievable safety valve at the selected location.

A downhole component has a body including a first end portion, a second end portion and an intermediate portion extending therebetween. The intermediate portion includes an outer surface and an inner surface. The inner surface defines a flow path. An axial passage extends radially outwardly of the flow path between the outer surface and the inner surface. A piston is arranged in the axial passage. The piston includes a first end, a second end, an intermediate section extending therebetween and a frangible element arranged adjacent at least one of the first end, the second end, and along the intermediate portion.

A downhole component includes a unitary body having a first end portion, a second end portion and an intermediate portion extending therebetween. The intermediate portion defines an outer surface and an inner surface forming a flow path. An annular chamber has a first end section spaced from a second end section by a gap. The annular chamber is formed in the unitary body spaced from the first end portion, the second end portion, the outer surface, and the inner surface.

A safety valve features a flow tube operated flapper for the normal open and closed positions that can be obtained with one or two control lines to a principal operating piston. Pressure applied to the piston moves the flow tube to rotate the flapper open behind the flow tube. Release of pressure to the principal piston allows a closure spring to return the flow tube up to let the flapper close. A secondary piston can drive the flow tube with applied pressure through a control line. Cycling the applied pressure in combination with an indexing mechanism allows the flapper to be locked open and then released to normal operation. The pistons act as backup for each other as they both drive the flow tube. The flow tube has a clearance fit to the body in the locked open position to exclude debris from the flapper.

An operating control line is in communication with an operating piston for the safety valve as well as an equalizing piston such that pressure in the operating control line opens the safety valve and holds the equalizer valve closed. A balance chamber receives fluid from an operating piston in the safety valve when the valve opens to displace a floating piston to the open position. Operating control line pressure reduction allows valve closure and opposite floating piston movement to the closed position. If the floating piston is forced by a tubing seal leak against the open position travel stop, pressure in a balance control line against the equalizing valve member moves it from a seat to then equalize pressure on opposed ends of the floating piston allowing a bias force to move the floating piston off the open position stop so the safety valve can open despite the tubing leak.

The annular space surrounding a flow tube in a subsurface safety valve is sealingly isolated at opposed ends of the flow tube and pressure compensated to the tubing pressure. The subsurface safety valve is inserted and aligned in an outer housing so that hydraulic operating connections are sealingly aligned with opposite hand split ring seals that are properly compressed when the safety valve is secured in its surrounding housing. The assembly is then able to meet high pressure, heavy debris, and marine environment service requirements for subsea conditions with minimal reconfiguration for what would otherwise serve as a borehole subsurface safety valve.
