A system for transmitting data between components of an industrial vehicle that are powered by electricity received through a power line is provided. The system includes a first electrical choke with a conductor arranged to pass through the first electrical choke and to connect a first component to the power line, and a first communication circuit for at least one of sending and receiving signals and having a transmission wire for carrying the signals. When the first communication circuit transmits a communication signal, the communication signal passes along the transmission wire through the first electrical choke in a first direction, and subsequently the communication signal passes along the conductor through the first electrical choke in a second direction opposite to the first direction thereby cancelling attenuation of the communication signal by the first electrical choke.

One or more spacers can be disposed within the counterweight case. The one or more spacers can space the battery apart from one or more internal walls of the counterweight case, when the battery is received in the counterweight case. In some cases, the spacers, along with vent holes, plugs, brackets, and/or a cover (e.g., a blanket cover) can help to protect the battery from environmental factors (e.g., heat, cold, vibrations, contact, and so on).

Operation of an industrial vehicle, such as one that lifts and transports loads, is controlled based on the weight of a removable battery. A control method involves reading a battery weight value from an electronic memory attached to a battery. That battery weight value is compared to a specified battery weight value for the industrial vehicle. The operation of the industrial vehicle is restricted to less than the normal operating characteristics when the battery weight value is less than the specified battery weight value. For example, the height to which a load can be raised is limited or the speed at which the industrial vehicle is limited when a battery installed on the industrial vehicle weighs less than the specified battery weight for effectively counterbalancing a load.
