The facing of a faced building insulation assembly includes a central field portion that is fungi growth resistant. The facing may include a fungi growth-inhibiting agent, be perforated to provide a selected water vapor permeance, and/or may include a heat activated bonding agent. The facing may have lateral tabs that are transparent, sufficiently open to enable wallboard to be directly bonded to framing members overlaid by the tabs, and/or of greater integrity than the field portion of the facing. The field portion of the facing may include a coating to stiffen the facing, inhibit fungi growth, and/or decrease flame spread and smoke formation.

Tabless faced insulation assembly

A method of forming a nodular insulation material suitable for installation in a cavity, comprising: propelling fibrous nodules at a substrate, wherein the fibrous nodules are formed from inorganic fibers, wherein the majority of the nodules have a maximum dimension of about one-half inch, and contacting the nodules while the nodules are being propelled, with a solution comprising water and a water soluble binder to produce coated nodules, wherein the coated nodules form an insulation on the substrate.

Method of making a nodular inorganic fibrous insulation

A multi-layer reflective insulation system for walls, ceilings, floors, roofs and similar applications includes a sheet of multi-layer reflective insulation from a roll product. The sheet of multi-layer reflective insulation is a laminate that includes first and second pliable sheet layers with reflective major surfaces and a separation media, intermediate opposed major surfaces of the first and second pliable sheet layers, that holds the first and second pliable sheet layers in a spaced apart relationship relative to each other. The separation media creates air space between the opposed major surfaces of the first and second pliable sheet layers for the enhanced reflection of incident radiation and the emission of radiation by a reflective surface of the product.

Multilayer reflective insulation roll product

An insulation package contains a plurality of unfaced or faced, uncut and pre-cut fibrous insulation batts of a pre-selected width enveloped within a covering in a compressed condition. Each of the pre-cut fibrous insulation batts has a plurality of longitudinally extending batt sections separably joined to adjacent batt sections by separable connectors. The separable connectors hold the pre-cut fibrous insulation batt together for handling but can be separated along the lengths of the batt sections by hand to separate adjacent batt sections. Preferably, between 20% and 70% of the fibrous insulation batts in each of the insulation packages are pre-cut fibrous insulation batts.

Insulation batt and package

A faced insulation assembly has a facing sheet with a central field portion that overlays and is bonded to a major surface of the insulation layer. The sheet has two lateral tabs that are joined to the central field portion of the sheet along fold lines. The tabs are folded back to overlay the central field portion of sheet. The fold lines may include score lines or weld lines to help maintain the tabs in the folded position for handling. The tabs have tab strips bonded thereto that may be bonded to the tabs by a pressure sensitive adhesive whereby the tabs may be left in the folded position, unfolded for stapling to framing members, or have the tab strips removed for bonding to framing members either in a folded or an unfolded position.

Facing and faced insulation assembly

The facing of a faced insulation layer has Z-folded, double-folded, or single-folded lateral tabs extending the length of the facing sheet along or spaced inwardly from lateral edges of the facing sheet. Each lateral tab has multiple segments. One of the segments of each lateral tab has an adhesive thereon that can be exposed and extended beyond one of the lateral edges of the insulation layer for bonding the faced insulation layer to a framing member. Where the blanket is separable into sections, the facing has pairs of separable tabs that separate when the blanket is separated to expose surfaces of the separable tabs with adhesive thereon. The adhesive may be microencapsulated or have microencapsulated constituent(s).

Facing and faced building insulation

A package of fibrous insulation includes a plurality of resilient fibrous insulation blanket layers in a compressed state. The resilient fibrous insulation blanket layers are enveloped within a multi-section covering with different covering sections having at least some information thereon relating to the resilient fibrous insulation layers within the package that is different from the information on another covering section. The covering sections are held in place with respect to each other at least in part by forces exerted on the covering sections by the compressed resilient fibrous insulation blanket layers within the package.

Insulation package

A pre-cut resilient fibrous insulation blanket includes a plurality of longitudinally extending blanket sections that are formed in the blanket by a plurality of laterally spaced apart cut and separable connector arrangements that hold the insulation blanket together for handling but enable the insulation blanket to be separated at any of the cut and separable connector arrangements to form a reduced width resilient fibrous insulation blanket. The number and widths of the blanket sections together with the lateral compressibility and resilience of the insulation blanket or a reduced width insulation blanket formed from the insulation blanket enable the insulation of essentially any width framework cavity up to the width of the insulation blanket with no more than one separation of the insulation blanket.

Single tear pre-cut insulation blanket

A hinged vent chute, for providing ventilation to an open attic space, includes an elongated chute segment and an insulation dam segment. The elongated chute segment has one or more upwardly open channels, extending from a lower end to an upper end of the chute segment, that provide an air passage from a soffit region of a roof, over an interior surface of the roof, up into an open attic space beneath the roof. The hinged vent chute has a hinge or fold line joining the elongated chute segment to the insulation dam segment which permits the vent chute to be folded downward at the hinge to position the insulation dam segment for securement to form an insulation dam which prevents loose fill insulation in an attic from flowing down into a soffit region of a roof and blocking air flow. The insulation dam segment may also have one or more hinge or fold lines intermediate the ends of the insulation dam segment to permit the insulation dam segment to be folded intermediate its ends when positioning the insulation dam segment for securement to form the insulation dam.
