A cosmetic composition is provided which includes composite particles of a sunscreen agent and a condensation polymerized polyamide binder, a water-insoluble powdered polymer of porous particles having an Oil Absorbance (castor oil) Value ranging from about 90 to about 500 ml/100 gm, and a cosmetically acceptable carrier. The composition exhibits an excellent soft focus property to hide skin imperfections, and retains relatively high SPF photoprotection.

Sunscreen composite particles and porous particles in cosmetic compostions

A cosmetic composition is provided which is a vanishing cream structured with 0.5 to 50% by weight of C-Cfatty acid, 0.1 to 20% by weight of C-Cfatty acid salt and hydrophilic composite particles with organic sunscreen agent. The hydrophilic composite particles are formed as a composite of sunscreen agent and a binder in a relative weight ratio of about 5:1 to about 1:10. A sequential method for dyeing hair which comprises: contacting the hair with a substantially inactive dye precursor mixture containing at least one primary intermediate and an optional coupler for a period of time, followed by applying a means for aligning the hair and distributing the oxidative dye precursors uniformly, followed by contacting the hair with a developer mixture capable of oxidizing the hair dye precursors to react and form hair color molecules.

The present invention relates to a 2-step methods, and compositions for providing more vibrant, natural and long-lasting color to hair and at the same time reducing hair fiber damage associated with alternative current methods. In the first step the hair is contacted for a period of time with a dye precursor mixture containing specific oxidative hair dye precursors under conditions where these dyes are substantially inactive. Color is then developed in a second step by contacting the hair with a mixture of a peroxide compound and a persulfate salt. Surprisingly the 2-step method leads to considerable 'lift' or lightening without negatively impacting the coloring ability of the oxidative dye. The invention also relates to kits providing the means to accomplish these steps.

A method for electrochemically dyeing, highlighting or tinting hair is provided which includes first applying to the hair an oxidative dye precursor mixture containing a primary intermediate having a standard Redox potential that is less than about 1V. This precursor mixture on the hair in then contacted with an electrode system that has sufficient voltage to electrochemically oxidize the primary intermediate to produce a colored dye through a coupling reaction. A system or kit for carrying out the method is also provided.
