Described herein is a distributed endpoint processing system and method for managing and routing communications within the distributed endpoint processing system. The distributed endpoint processing system can dynamically accommodate additional endpoint devices or new endpoint types, enhancing flexibility and adaptability. By applying a customizable routing map generation policy, the distributed endpoint processing system assigns processing nodes for handling endpoint device communications, facilitating efficient and effective operation. Incoming messages from endpoint devices are processed and routed to the appropriate processing nodes based on the generated routing maps. Additionally, the distributed endpoint processing system can support API path configurations, which can be utilized to access and manage various system components.

System and method for dynamic routing and scalable management of endpoint device communications

Methods for allocating bandwidth in a central cloud-based system are provided including receiving a request for a subscription for information stored in the central cloud-based system from a third-party customer and allocating one or more partitions in a queue to the third-party customer. The one or more partitions each have corresponding threads and a number of the one or more partitions is determined by an estimated amount of traffic associated with the requested subscription for the third-party customer. Information is provided meeting terms of the subscription to the third-party customer using the allocated one or more partitions in the queue and the corresponding threads. At least one of the receiving, allocating and providing is implemented by at least one processor. Related devices and computer program products are also provided.

Methods for managing bandwidth allocation in a cloud-based system and related bandwidth managers and computer program products

In one embodiment, a router that accesses a cable network through a cable modem receives, from the cable modem, a plurality of service-flow classifications utilized by the cable modem to describe service flows on the cable network. Based on the received service-flow classifications from the cable modem, the router determines traffic destined for the cable network that corresponds to each service-flow on the cable network. The router receives, from the cable modem, an indication of network backpressure for a particular service-flow on the cable network. The indication of network backpressure is received when a threshold of network backpressure has been surpassed for the particular service-flow on the cable network. The router controls particular traffic that corresponds to the particular service-flow on the cable network based on the indication of network backpressure for the particular service-flow on the cable network.

Applying router quality of service on a cable modem interface on a per-service-flow basis

In one embodiment, a method comprises authentication a user of a client device by a network access device; selectively sending an education assignment request to an authorization server, by the network access device, in response to receiving a request from a client device for access to a network and based on determining the user requires educational authorization to access the network, the education assignment request including an identifier for identifying the user; forwarding to the client device an educational assignment received from the authorization server for completion by the user of the client device; forwarding to the authorization server a response to the educational assignment and having been received from the client device; and selectively authorizing, by the network access device, the access to the network by the client device based on a received authorization message from the authorization server relative to the response to the educational assignment.

Authorizing network access based on completed educational task

A technique for optimally balancing the load between a series of coprocessors that takes into consideration the load associated with each coprocessor. A cost associated with a packet is determined. This cost along with the coprocessor's current load is used to determine an anticipated load. The anticipated load is used to select a coprocessor that is to process the packet. In one embodiment, the coprocessor with the minimal anticipated load is selected. In another embodiment, an output port associated with the packet is checked to determine if it is congested. If so, a coprocessor other than the coprocessor with the minimum load is selected.

Method to optimize the load balancing of parallel coprocessors

In one embodiment, a cable modem determines network backpressure per service-flow, and transmits the network backpressure per service-flow to a router (e.g., co-located on a same network device). Also, the cable modem may transmit service-flow classifications to the router, such that the router may then control traffic per service-flow based on the network backpressure per service-flow, accordingly.

A router has at least one outbound interface configured for establishing multiple IP-based secure connections (i.e., tunnels) with respective destinations based on transmission of encrypted data packets via the IP-based secure connections. The encrypted data packets are generated by a cryptographic module, where each encrypted packet successively output from the cryptographic module includes a corresponding successively-unique sequence number. The supply of data packets to the cryptographic module is controlled by a queue controller: the queue controller assigns, for each secure connection, a corresponding queuing module configured for outputting a group of data packets associated with the corresponding secure connection according to a corresponding assigned maximum output bandwidth. Each queuing module also is configured for reordering the corresponding group of data packets according to a determined quality of service policy and the corresponding assigned maximum output bandwidth.
