The present invention is dedicated to a process for improving the adhesion properties between a first coating obtained from a curable composition and a second coating, through the incorporation of a cleavable surfactant in said curable composition and subsequent cleavage thereof. This invention relates to an improvement for applying a layered structure onto a convex surface of a lens. After thermoforming the layered structure, a curvature direction of the layered structure is inverted. The structure is then applied on the lens surface by continuously pushing the structure against the lens surface, starting from a contact point between a convex surface of the structure and the convex surface of the lens. The curvature direction of the layered structure is then inverted again, so that it recovers the curvature direction that resulted from thermoforming. Stresses within the layered structure are then reduced, and the structure can be assembled with the lens without defects.

Process for applying a layered structure on a lens

The invention relates to a method of producing a substrate which is coated with a mesoporous layer and to the use thereof in ophthalmic optics. The inventive method comprises the following steps comprising: preparing a precursor sol containing (i) a precursor agent that is selected from compounds having formula M(X)4 (I), in which X is a hydrolysable group and M represents silicon or a tetravalent metal and mixtures thereof, (ii) at least one organic solvent, (iii) at least one pore-forming agent and (iv) water; depositing a film of the precursor sol on a main surface of the substrate; optionally consolidating the mesoporous structure of the deposited film; eliminating the pore-forming agent; and recovering the substrate coated with the mesoporous layer. The method is characterized in that: (i) the pore-forming agent is eliminated at a temperature of less than or equal to 150&#xb0; C.; and (ii) the method comprises a step involving the introduction of at least one reactive agent bearing at least one hydrophobic group, before the deposition step and/or after said step.

A process for combining a polythiol reactant and an alkenyl silane reactant to form a polysulfide polysilane. The reactants are combined in a thiol-ene addition process driven by UV radiation. The polysulfide polysilane is then hydrolyzed and may be combined with other hydrolyzed compounds. For coatings, the polysulfide polysilane is hydrolyzed and may optionally be combined with nanoparticles. For bulk materials, the polysulfide polysilane is hydrolyzed, concentrated, and heated to form a high refractive index material which can be used to form optical articles such as lenses.
