Described herein is a technique that provides a first robot associated with a first trust domain to identify and authenticate a second robot associated with a second trust domain. The identification and authentication technique described herein is based on a robot processing a variety of input signals obtained via sensors, in order to generate robot identification information that can be compared with known or trusted information. Advantageously, the identification technique occurs locally, for example, at the robot and at the location of the robot-to-robot interaction, eliminating any requirement for communicating with an authoritative remote or cloud-based service, at the time and place of the robot-to-robot interaction.

Method to support autonomous robot-to-robot identification and task transfer

Systems, apparatuses, and methods for autonomous sensor placement discovery for RFID systems are disclosed. Sensors are deployed in a brick and mortar store that can scan for and receive signals from a plurality of locating tags as well as RFID tags. The locating tags may transmit ultra-wideband signals in response to a scan to provide precise determination of the location of each locating tag relative to a detecting sensor. Each sensor may also include a locating tag to enable determining the location of each sensor. The location information from the locating tags is provided to a gateway, which can provide a display of the locations of sensors and locating tags in the brick and mortar store and areas of no coverage, as well as autonomously control various parameters of the sensors to minimize or eliminate some or all areas of no coverage.

Autonomous sensor placement discovery method and apparatus

Methods, systems, apparatus, and articles of manufacture are disclosed to improve radio frequency identification (RFID) tag communication. An example disclosed apparatus includes an RFID reader monitor to activate a first RFID reader and deactivate a second RFID reader during a first tag data acquisition at a first time, and deactivate the first RFID reader and activate the second RFID reader during a second tag data acquisition at a second time, a tag logger to identify a first set of RFID tags detected by the first RFID reader at the first time, and identify a second set of RFID tags detected by the second RFID reader at the second time, and a group generator to improve RFID tag communication by identifying which one of the first RFID reader and the second RFID reader communicates with a common RFID tag.

Methods, systems and apparatus to improve radio frequency identification (RFID) tag communication

A radio frequency identification (RFID) reader is disclosed that allows for selective deep scans of RFID tags. The RFID reader may include a motion detection sensor, a radio frequency transceiver configured to transmit RF energy at first and second frequencies, and a processor. The processor may perform the following steps: (1) when motion is detected by the sensor, commanding the transceiver to transmit RF energy at the first RFID profile; and (2) when motion has not been detect for a predetermined time period, commanding the transceiver to transmit RF energy at the second RFID profile. A method for using the RFID reader to perform selective deep scanning is also disclosed.

Method and apparatus for selective deep scan using a motion sensor co-located with RFID reader

A radio frequency identification (RFID) system for monitoring a space is disclosed. The system may include a controller connected with a plurality of RFID readers, where each reader can detect data signals from a plurality of RFID tags attached with objects. The objects may be part of an object category. The system may also have a database connected with the controller that records a time when the data signal is received from each tag in the plurality, and the data contained in the data signal from each tag in the plurality. The system may include a processor that can perform an inventory analysis of the objects based on a confidence probability curve. This curve may be a decaying function that may be based on various probabilities. Methods for using the confidence probability curve are also disclosed.
