A wireless communication system includes a number of controllable electronic devices and a mobile station for communication with one of the controllable electronic devices through a short-range wireless communication link, when in-range with the one controllable electronic device. The mobile station includes a display screen and a browser. The mobile station and the one controllable electronic device form a client-server pair. Through the short-range wireless communication link, the client requests the server to download a control interface stored at the server. Upon downloading, a browser is used to navigate through control menu pages included in the control interface, and to post control parameter settings to the server. In the server, a program runs to interpret received control parameter settings, to invoke a control action in accordance with the received control parameter settings, and to instruct the client what to do next.

Remote control of an electronic device through downloading of a control interface of the electronic device in a mobile station

A mobile apparatus is provided for exchanging data objects over several network. The mobile apparatus exchanges data objects of a first data format over a first network and exchanges data of a second data format over a second network. The mobile apparatus comprises configurable processing means. When configured, processing means converts data of the first format received from the first network to data of the second format. Processing means then forwards converted data to the second network.

Mobile apparatus enabling inter-network communication

A wireless system comprises a number of wireless stations for communication with each other through short-range wireless links. In a multiple link data object conveying method, in a data conveying session, a first short-range wireless link is set up between a first and a second wireless station of the wireless system. Upon setting up of the first short-range wireless link, first and second personal identification codes are respectively entered in the first and second wireless stations. Thereafter, a data connection through the first wireless link is only set up if the first and second entered personal identification codes are the same. If the data connection is set up the first personal identification code is stored for later use in the session, and the data object is conveyed through the first wireless link. Then, while using the stored first personal identification code, at least a subsequent short-range wireless link is set up from the first wireless station to a third wireless station. After checking whether the third wireless station returned the same personal identification code as the re-used first personal identification code, the same type of data object is conveyed through the subsequent wireless link.

Multiple link data object conveying method for conveying data objects to wireless stations

A wireless communication device is disclosed for establishing communication with a remote terminal device through a cordless or a mobile base station. The wireless communication device has a cordless section and a mobile section. The cordless section is for communicating with a remote terminal device through the cordless base station in a cordless mode used for a cordless call. The mobile section is for communicating with the remote terminal device through the mobile base station in a mobile mode used for a mobile call. A processor of the wireless communication device detects a drop of a current call using the cordless service, for example, and re-establishes the communication using the mobile service. The user may be prompted prior to call re-establishment. For outgoing calls, the last dialled number is stored and re-dialled for call re-establishment. For incoming calls, the caller ID is used for call re-establishment. When a cheaper service is detected during a call, the user is prompted and invited to use the cheaper service.

Call re-establishment for a dual mode telephone

A mobile communication handset which is configured for communicating by a cellular or PCS or cordless call over a first wireless link to a base station, and is also configured for communicating with one or more other communication devices over other respective wireless direct device-to-device second links implemented by the Bluetooth Intercom Profile, is provided with functionality to carry on a group call by appropriately combining speech signals carried by the various links and by the handset. The first wireless link may be a cordless link which is implemented by the Bluetooth Telephony Profile. Alternatively, the first link may also be configured as wireless direct device-to-device link, in which case all wireless links involved in the group call are implemented by the Bluetooth Intercom Profile.
