An implantable device adapted for assisting the flow of blood from a left atrium to a descending aorta of an in-vivo heart is provided. The implantable device includes an inlet cannula adapted to be connected to the left atrium and an outlet cannula adapted to be connected to the descending aorta. In one embodiment, the inlet and outlet cannula is in fluid communication with a blood pressure pump. The implantable device further includes a first accelerometer mounted on a housing of the blood pressure pump, wherein the first accelerometer is adapted for measuring mitral valve motion. The implantable device also includes an implanted controller in electrical communication with at least one implanted ECG sensor adapted for detecting ECG signals, wherein the at least one implanted ECG sensor is positioned between the blood pressure pump and the implanted controller and the implanted controller also includes a processor adapted to analyse detected ECG signals and the mitral valve motion. In one embodiment, the processor dynamically adjusts the target blood pressure pump speed based on ECG signals and mitral valve motion such that the blood flows from left atrium to both left ventricle and descending aorta.

Implantable device and delivery method

A percutaneous lead assembly for an active implantable device, the lead assembly comprising a sheath with a plurality of wires extending from a proximal end to a distal end. The wires being adapted to power the active implantable device; the distal end having at least one electrode fixed thereon. The electrodes being in communication with sensor electronics and wherein at least one electrode is on the outer layer of the lead assembly in which the electrode is used to detect at least one of acceleration and electrical signals of an organ.

Percutaneous lead

A blood pump device comprising: a centrifugal blood pump having: a pump housing defining an inlet to receive blood and direct blood onto an impeller, the pump housing having a top bezel and a central column directed into the middle of a cavity within the pump housing; the impeller is adapted, in use, to rotate in the cavity around the central column and to be suspended on a pivot bearing mounted between the middle of the lower surface of the impeller and the middle of the upper surface of the central column; the impeller is stabilised, in use, by the rotation of blades generating a centrifugal force acting on the blades in radial direction away from the central column.

Low cost ventricular device and system thereof

A cardiac assist device comprising: an implantable pump having a first and second end and adapted to be mounted within a blood vessel, wherein the pump further comprises an impeller that rotates about an axis parallel to the flow of blood through the pump and wherein the impeller lateral movement is restrained between the first and second end by bearings positioned at respective first and second ends; and wherein the pump is powered by a first implanted coil and a second external coil mounted on either side of a skin barrier of a patient, wherein the first and second coils are in electrical communication to relay power across the skin barrier.
