A catheter for removing an object in a body lumen includes an outer tube, a shaft surrounded by the tube, a cutting member connected to the shaft to be rotated with respect to a rotation axis, a guide wire tube attached to the outer tube and having a first lumen for a guide wire and second lumens, a metal member attached to the wire tube, a part of the metal member surrounded by the member, a distal tip attached to the wire tube and having a third lumen communicating with the first lumen, and a pusher extending along the shaft, connectable to the distal tip or the metal member, and including wires that can pass through the second lumens. The pusher causes the cutting member to move toward a first surface of the body lumen when contacting an opposite second surface of the body lumen.

A medical device that removes an object from a biological lumen, includes a rotatable drive shaft having a lumen through which the object passes, a cutting unit disposed at a distal end of the drive shaft and by which the object is cut, a proximal shaft to be rotated by a rotary force, a connection unit connecting the proximal shaft and the drive shaft and by which the rotary force is transmitted to the drive shaft, and a housing that houses the connection unit and includes a discharge port communicating with the lumen via the connection unit and through which the cut object is discharged. The connection unit includes a surface that faces a proximal end of the drive shaft and prevents the object that passed through the lumen and is to be discharged from being retained in the connection unit along a rotation axis thereof.

A catheter for removing an object in a body lumen includes a rotatable drive shaft including a spiral portion having a spiral shape near a distal end of the drive shaft, an outer tube surrounding the drive shaft, a cutting member connected to the distal end of the drive shaft to be rotated by the drive shaft with respect to a rotation axis and by which the object is cut, a guide wire tube attached to a distal portion of the outer tube, extending substantially straight along a center spiral axis of the spiral portion, and having a first guide wire lumen, and a distal tip attached to a distal end of the guide wire tube and having a second guide wire lumen extending parallel to the rotation axis and communicating with the first guide wire lumen.

A medical device that removes an object in a body lumen, includes a rotatable drive shaft, a cutter attached to a distal portion of the drive shaft and by which the object is cut, an outer tube surrounding the drive shaft, a guide wire tube attached to a distal portion of the outer tube and having a guide wire lumen therein, a metal member attached to the guide wire tube and including a first portion that extends along the guide wire tube and includes a first recess, and a distal tip made of a resin, disposed at a distal portion of the guide wire tube, and having a distal lumen that communicates with the guide wire lumen. The distal tip engages with the first recess of the metal member.

Various shock wave catheters and methods of use thereof that do not utilize a guidewire are described herein. The shock wave catheters include at least one shock wave emitter disposed within a distal portion of the shock wave catheter and configured to generate shock waves. The ends of conductive wires extending within an elongate tube can form the shock wave emitter(s). The shock wave emitter(s) can be surrounded by an enclosure fillable with a conductive fluid delivered by the lumen of the elongate tube. The elongate tube can include a coil or slits therein that enable flexibility of the shock wave catheter, which, in combination with the narrow profile of the shock wave catheters described herein, enable their use in navigating and treating small, tortuous vessels.

A medical device for cutting substances inside a body lumen includes a flexible and elongated drive shaft including a distal portion and a proximal portion, a cutting member connected to the distal portion of the drive shaft to be rotatable with the drive shaft, and a hub located at the proximal portion and supporting the drive shaft, the hub including a first bearing mounted on the drive shaft and an elastic ring that is made of an elastic material on an outer periphery of the first bearing.
