An eyewear device has a lens retention mechanism that establishes electrical contact between onboard electronics and a lens ring by a resiliently compressible electrical contact member, such as a spring washer, located within a housing defined by a body of the eyewear device. The retention mechanism can further include a lock screw that is selectively engageable with the lens ring to allow disposal between retention and release of a lens by the lens ring, the lock ring being captured in the housing such as to resist removal of the lock screw from the housing when the lens ring is released for lens removal.

Eyewear device lens retention mechanism

An electronic assembly including eyewear and/or an eyewear case having a support structure and a conductive contact surface supported by the support structure. The eyewear case includes electronic components, an electrical contact surface adapted to engage the conductive contact surface of the eyewear, a first magnet attached to the electrical contact surface, and a second magnet that is positioned to attract or repel the first magnet.

Eyewear that includes a frame supporting an optical element. The frame has a first side and a second side. The eyewear also includes a temple adjacent the first side of the frame. The temple includes a first portion adjacent the frame and a second portion releasably connected to the first portion. The eyewear also includes an electrical connector embedded within the first portion of the temple. The second portion conceals the electrical connector from an exterior of the eyewear when the second portion connects to the first portion in a concealed state, and exposes the electrical connector from the exterior of the eyewear when disconnected from the first portion in an exposed state.

An antenna system comprises a combination of a loop antenna and a non-loop antenna. The loop antenna and the non-loop antenna is connected in common to a transceiver mechanism or signal feed mechanism. The non-loop antenna is in some embodiments provided by a dipole conductor. An eyewear device incorporates the antenna system, a loop conductor and a dipole conductor of the antenna system being integrated in a body of the eyewear device. The loop conductor may be provided by a lens ring that extends around a lens held by the body. The lens ring may serve both as loop conductor and as a lens retention mechanism.

Hybrid antenna system for wearable devices

A battery pack comprises a pair of physically separate battery cells share a single protection circuit module (PCM). Each further saw comprises a respective pair of electrodes, with both pairs of electrodes being connected to a single, common protection circuit board (PCB) of the PCM. The common PCM may be located in a spacing between adjacent ends of the batteries such that a widthwise dimension of the PCB has an upright orientation between the two batteries.

Eyewear devices including a tether and methods for identifying proper installation of the tether are disclosed. An eyewear device includes transmission lines extending through the temples to electrical and electronic components positioned adjacent to edges of a frame. A tether is attached to the temples to enable power and communication flow between the electrical and electronic components rather than through the frame. Proper installation is identified based on communications passing between the electrical and electronic components via the tether.

Eyewear that includes a frame supporting an optical element. The frame has a first side and a second side. The eyewear also includes a temple adjacent the first side of the frame. The temple includes a first portion adjacent the frame and a second portion releasably connected to the first portion. An electronic device is provided in the releasable second portion. The electronic device may be passive or active, such as a battery configured to power the eyewear. The electronic device may communicate with an electronic component in the first portion, and may also operate independently when the second portion is removed.

Three-dimensional image calibration and presentation for eyewear including a pair of image capture devices is described. Calibration and presentation includes obtaining a calibration offset to accommodate flexure in the support structure for the eyewear, adjusting a three-dimensional rendering offset by the obtained calibration offset, and presenting the stereoscopic images using the three-dimension rendering offset.

Flexible eyewear device with dual cameras for generating stereoscopic images

Systems, devices, media, and methods are presented for capturing and sharing visual content, especially three-dimensional video, with a plurality of users with compatible devices. The methods in some implementations include transmitting the visual content to a portable projector, generating a unique invite and broadcasting it to a plurality of eyewear devices, and projecting the visual content onto a screen for viewers who accepted the invite and are wearing a compatible eyewear device. For projection in 3D format, the eyewear devices include an active shutter mode. The portable projector may be housed in the interior of a case. In some configurations, the case interior is sized and shaped to support the projector and an eyewear device. The system may include multiple projectors at remote locations directed to project the visual content simultaneously.

A case for an eyewear device includes a body defining an opening leading to a storage chamber that is sized for retaining the eyewear device. A cover depends from the body and is movable between an open position, in which the opening is exposed, and a closed position, in which the opening is covered by the cover. A battery is mounted to the body for charging the eyewear device. A detector is positioned on either the body or the cover for detecting when the cover is in the open position or the closed position. A display displays a charge state of the battery when the cover is in the open position.
