A method of ablating tissue comprising adjusting a set of dosing parameters for an ablation catheter based on a set of optical image-derived parameters generated from optical image-derived information obtained from direct optical imaging of the tissue while the ablation catheter is in contact with the tissue. The set of optical image-derived parameters may include a color profile, a blanching parameter, or a contact angle of a distal tip of the ablation catheter. The method may further comprise comparing the color profile to a signature profile and adjusting the set of dosing parameters based on the comparison between the color profile and the signature profile.

Apparatus and method for delivery and monitoring of ablation therapy

Methods are provided for monitoring and controlling tissue ablation using RF energy delivered by an imaging ablation catheter under direct visualization, using the control and modulation of a set of ablation parameters based on direct optical imaging of the tissue surface via the imaging ablation catheter, where a set of optical image-derived parameters modulates the setting of a subset of Radio Frequency dosing parameters. The ablation dosing algorithms based on image-derived information can be implemented manually or in semi-automated or automated forms.

An electrical safety outlet is provided and consists of a plug receptacle having typically at least a large neutral blade-slot and a small voltage blade-slot for receiving a large neutral blade and a small voltage blade of a corresponding and mating multi-prong polarized plug. The invention also applies to older plugs and three-blade plugs where both the neutral and voltage blades are the same width. In one embodiment, insertion of the multi-prong polarized plug depresses the exterior lobes of two separate cams which work together to change the normally open circuit receptacle of the present invention to a closed circuit receptacle. In order for both cams to be activated, the mating multi-prong polarized plug must be inserted almost completely into the plug receptacle before the electrical circuit is closed, thereby supplying current to the plug. The neutral prong must be at least the width of the voltage prong to close the circuit.
