An equipment container retention and bonding system including a dagger pin block assembly that includes a mounting dagger pin and a bonding member formed of a compressive electrically conductive material that is retained on a surface of the dagger pin block assembly wherein the bonding member is compressed between the contact surface on the equipment container and the dagger pin block assembly when the fastening mechanism secures the equipment container in the mounting tray to form an EMI/EMC bonding connection between the mounting tray and the equipment container having an electrical resistance of less than 2.5 milli-ohms under vibration and other loading conditions encountered during use of the system.

Equipment container retention and bonding system and method

A hammer for forming bulges in an array of compliant pin blanks by compressive deformation to thereby attach the array of pin blanks to a printed circuit board is provided. Each of the compliant pin blanks has a substrate engaging portion and a compliant section spaced from the substrate engaging portion projecting from the printed circuit board. The compliant section of each pin blank defines at least one protrusion extending outwardly farther than the remaining portions of the compliant section of the pin blank. The circuit board has a plurality of holes receiving the pin blanks. A hammer is provided which has a body defining a substrate facing surface for facing the printed circuit board and defining a plurality of holes extending from the substrate facing surface for receiving the compliant sections of the pin blanks. The holes in the substrate facing surface have a bulge cavity larger than the cross-section of the portion of the pin receiving blank therein. The compressive stress of the pin blanks will cause the blanks to be formed in the bulge cavities.

A portable computer holder is adjustably mounted on a base portion that is attachable to the floor of a vehicle and is provided with a means for heating the portable computer when the computer is positioned in the holder. The heated holder effectively solves the problem of maintaining a portable computer at an operable temperature in cold environments.

A portable computer docking station that is capable of allowing rotational movement of the computer's viewable screen in at least three different planes, thereby facilitating viewing and other utilization (e.g., using a pen) of the screen within a motor vehicle. The docking station defined herein is provided with a means for heating the portable computer when the computer is positioned in the docking station's holder portion. The heated holder portion effectively solves the problem of maintaining a portable computer at an operable temperature in cold environments. A vehicular computer assembly is also provided.

An electrical connection pin blank having at least one compliant section is affixed to a first circuit board by compressive deformation in such a way that the compliant section of the pin blank projects outwardly from the surface of the first circuit board. The end of the pin projecting from the first circuit board is then inserted into a corresponding opening in a second circuit board and the two boards brought together until the second circuit board is firmly affixed to the complaint section of the pin by compliant pin connection.
