A COdesorption method and equipment for performing this method is described. More specific, a method for desorbing COfrom an absorption fluid without involving a traditional stripper but instead using a heat exchanger as a flash-tank is disclosed. Further described is the utilization of cooling heat from a condenser for cooling the lean absorbent fluid.

The invention relates to a process for separation or purification of gaseous streams by removal of acid gases using a liquid amine solution. The process involves the steps of &#x2014;contacting the gaseous stream with liquid lean amine solution in at least one continuous flow stirred-tank reactor (); &#x2014;removing a sweetened gaseous flow from said continuous flow stirred-tank reactor (); &#x2014;removing rich amine from said continuous flow stirred-tank reactor () for regeneration; &#x2014;passing rich amine solution through at least one flash tank stripper; &#x2014;removing acid gases and vapor from said flash tank stripper; &#x2014;removing lean amine from said flash tank stripper for recirculation to said continuous flow stirred-tank reactor ().

The invention relates to a continuous process for removal of acid gas, such as carbon dioxide (CO2) from a fluid stream, such as natural gas comprising mainly hydrocarbons, by means of a absorbent medium in a rotating absorption zone. Subsequently, the acid gas is desorbed in a rotating desorption zone from the absorbent medium to allow the absorbent medium to be recirculated and the acid gas is removed for storage or drying and processing. This process can be carried out continuously, as the absorption medium is re-used.
