A process for recovering cyanide from feed material containing cyanide and copper involves the steps of: (a) contacting the feed material with a strong base anion exchange resin whereby copper and cyanide from the feed material are adsorbed onto the resin; (b) contacting the resulting resin with an eluant solution containing free cyanide ion to elute copper and cyanide from the resin; (c) separating the eluted resin from the eluting solution or eluate from step (b); (d) acidifying the eluate from step (b) to precipitate copper; (e) separating the acidified solution from the precipitate in step (d) and alkalizing directly or after concentration the separated solution containing HCN; (f) contacting the eluted resin from step (b) with an acid to condition the resin and remove additional cyanide while leaving most of the copper in the resin phase; (g) converting the HCN solution formed in step (f) to cyanide ion, directly or after concentration of the HCN solution, by the addition of alkali; and (h) returning the conditioned resin from step (f) to step (a) above.

Process for recovering cyanide from copper-containing feed material

A hydrometallurgical process for treating copper feed materials containing gold and/or silver by simultaneously leaching copper, gold and/or silver into an aqueous cyanide solution, extracting copper, gold and cyanide with anion exchange resin is provided.

Hydrometallurgical extraction process

A hydrometallurgical process for treating copper feed materials containing gold and/or silver by simultaneously leaching copper, gold and/or silver into an aqueous cyanide solution, recovering copper in metallic form by electrowinning and regenerating cyanide ions is provided, wherein high current efficiencies are achieved at high current densities and at low copper concentrations.

Hydrometallurgical extraction and recovery of copper, gold, and silver

A hydrometallurgical process for treating copper ores or concentrates containing gold by simultaneously leaching both copper and gold into an aqueous cyanide solution, recovering copper and gold in metallic form by electrowinning or cementation and regenerating cyanide ions is provided.

Process for recovering reactants and products e.g., acrylonitrile and hydrogen cyanide from an aqueous stream obtained in the ammoxidation of propylene which comprises heating an aqueous stream containing the afore-said compounds in a heat exchanger by circulating the stream at a velocity of at least 6 ft/sec through the exchanger while maintaining the stream in the liquid state to increase the temperature of the stream to at least 105.degree. C and thereafter rapidly reducing the pressure of the heated stream sufficiently to vaporize 0.2-5% thereof and thereafter returning the vapor to the acrylonitrile process for recovery of energy used to heat the aqueous waste; usable materials e.g., acrylonitrile and hydrogen cyanide and compounds such as ammonia which can be used to neutralize acid streams and subsequently either incinerating the unvaporized material directly or using the unvaporized material as fertilizer after appropriate treatment.
