A radio frequency (RF) hydrocarbon resource upgrading device may include a first hydrocarbon resource upgrading path that may include a plurality of first RF power applicator stages coupled in series. Each first RF power stage is configured to apply RF power to upgrade a hydrocarbon resource passing therethrough. The RF hydrocarbon resource upgrading device may also include a second hydrocarbon resource upgrading path that may include at least one second RF power applicator stage coupled in parallel with at least one of the first RF power applicator stages. The second RF power applicator stage is configured to apply RF power to upgrade the hydrocarbon resource passing therethrough.

Radio frequency hydrocarbon resource upgrading apparatus including parallel paths and related methods

A device for transporting and upgrading a hydrocarbon resource may include a pair of pipeline segments configured to transport the hydrocarbon resource therethrough and a radio frequency (RF) upgrading device. The RF upgrading device may include an RF applicator comprising an inner tubular dielectric coupler between the pair of pipeline segments, and an electrically conductive outer housing surrounding the inner tubular dielectric coupler. The RF upgrading device may also include an RF source coupled to the electrically conductive outer housing and having an operating frequency and power to upgrade the hydrocarbon resource.

Apparatus for transporting and upgrading a hydrocarbon resource through a pipeline and related methods

A method for recovering a hydrocarbon resource from a subterranean formation may include applying radio frequency (RF) power to the hydrocarbon resource in the subterranean formation to upgrade the hydrocarbon resource and producing the upgraded hydrocarbon resource from the subterranean formation to a wellhead. The method may also include, at the wellhead, performing an additional upgrading operation on the upgraded hydrocarbon resource using RF power. The method may further include supplying the upgraded hydrocarbon resource to a pipeline for transportation therethrough.

Compositions and related methods for detecting leaks in HVAC/R components such as furnaces, portable gas heaters, swimming pool heaters, air conditioners, heat pumps, refrigerators, freezers, and other closed loop vapor compression systems, as well as heat exchangers. These compositions provide more sensitive detection of leaks in inaccessible areas of furnaces using low ODP and non-flammable compounds classified as hydrofluorochloro-ethers (HFCE's), hydrobromochlorofluoro-alkenes (HBCFA's) hydrofluoro-ethers (HFE's), and halogenated compounds which are either alkanes, alcohols, diones, acetates, ketones (e.g., butanones, pentanones), esters (e.g., propanoates), anhydrides, cycloalkanes (cycloparaffins), cycloalkenes (cycloolefins), heterocyclics (e.g., furans), and aromatics.

A method treats ordinary filters with an electrostatic material that will turn any filter into a passive electrostatic filter. A formulation is sprayed or otherwise applied onto the filter to increase the filter's ability to effectively reduce indoor air particulates and improve indoor air quality. The formulation includes a water-soluble dielectric formulation and can also be combined with a biocide.

Method and formulation using passive electrostaticity for improving filter performance

A formulation and method to treat and control microbial growth present in the water of climate control systems such as air conditioner air handlers, dehumidifiers, and humidifiers, which formulation can be entrained and dispersed into to living space air. Specifically, a formulation is provided in the form of a tablet or a spray for being applied onto a wetted surface element present in these systems which will effectively control the growth of microbes such as fungus, molds, bacteria, and virus present on the surface for an extended period of time. The formulations include at least two metals, at least two chelating agents, at least one surfactant, and at least one viscosity enhancing compound.

Formulation and method for treating wetted surface elements in climate control systems

A field-installable and removable moisture and/or acid test kit and method is used for a vapor compression system. A moisture and/or acid indicator is provided in the test kit which is installed at a single point location upstream or downstream of the system compressor in a region where the system working fluid is in a substantially vapor phase. The test kit can be connected to the system by a threaded connection or a quick disconnect fitting. The moisture/acid indicator in the test kit detects the presence of moisture and/or acid by a diffusion of moisture or acid to the indicator via diffusion. Some magnification is provided in the test kit because the lower transport rates from the vapor diffusion mechanism requires a smaller mass of indicator material than has been used in conventional flowing liquid systems.

Removable test kit and method of use for vapor compression systems

Leaks are detected in a vapor compression system using fluorescent and daylight visible in situants which are introduced to a system by way of a carrier and dissolved into the systems oil or lubricant. This invention teaches the use of POE oil as a universal carrier fluid, alone or in combination with an alcohol, and combined with one or more &ldquo;in situants&rdquo;. The in situants are compounds which are the same or substantially similar to compounds already present in oils or lubricants. An on-off UV light source, such as a xenon light, can the be used to visually detect the leak from the vapor compression system components.

A method to control microbial growth and other contaminants present in the water of climate control systems includes using tablets or packets to effectively control the growth of microbes such as fungus, molds, bacteria, and virus present in water for an extended period of time. The tablet or packet formulations include at least two metals and at least one chelating agent. Optionally, more soluble salts are also added to the formulations to induce an initial shock of the biologically active compounds in the water followed by a slower release of the less soluble chelating agents and metals.
