A hybrid, high-power, bidirectional DC to DC converter includes switches between a delta-wye configuration and a straight interleaved configuration. In this way, the converter can operate in a delta-wye configuration for low to mid-current input applications and in a straight interleaved configuration for high-current applications. This allows the converter to have high efficiency while maintaining a small size for a wide range of applications.

Hybrid, high-power, bidirectional DC-DC converter

A hybrid bidirectional DC to DC converter allows a direct boost ratio in the high voltage to low voltage direction, but not in the low to high direction. Switches are used to tie the commons of the transformers to ground and power rail to allow the formation of a full-bridge with remaining phases to alter the boost ratio so that transformers do not need to be connected in series in the high voltage to low voltage direction. The switches are on a connection shared by the transformers and are configured to allow a dynamic changeover of the secondary windings in a multi-phase delta-wye configuration from a series nature into a parallel nature such that a 2&#xd7; boost of winding ratio is reduced to a 1&#xd7; boost of winding ratio depending on whether the input voltage is above or below a threshold input voltage.

Hybrid bidirectional DC to DC converter

Electrode for an electro-erosion process, includes a shaft, a body coupled to the shaft, a plurality of machining-inserts, an insulated layer, and a flushing cover disposed on the body and coupled to the shaft. The shaft includes a channel, a plurality of first and second openings, each opening connected to the channel. The body includes a plurality of main-flushing channels, each channel connected to a corresponding first opening. The plurality of machining-inserts is spaced apart from each other along a circumferential direction and detachably coupled to a peripheral end portion of the body. Each machining-insert includes at least one third opening connected to a corresponding main-flushing channel. The insulated layer is disposed on top and bottom surfaces of the body. The flushing cover includes a plurality of side-flushing channels and a plurality of fourth openings, each channel connected to a corresponding second opening.

Electrode for an electro-erosion process and an associated method thereof

An electroerosion machining system for trepanning and drilling operations is disclosed. The electroerosion machining system includes an electrode assembly configured to machine a desired configuration in a workpiece, a power supply configured to energize the electrode assembly and the workpiece to opposite electrical polarities, an electrolyte supply configured to pass an electrolyte between the electrode assembly and the workpiece, a working apparatus configured to move the electrode assembly relative to the workpiece, and a control system to control the power supply and the working apparatus. The electrode assembly further includes an electrode body in the form of a tube-shaped body, the tube-shaped body defining a hollow interior and one or more replaceable inserts affixed to the electrode body at a working end thereof positioned adjacent the workpiece, the one or more replaceable inserts constructed so as to be selectively attachable and detachable from the working end of the electrode body.

Electrode for electroerosion machining system

A method for electroerosion machining includes providing an electrode assembly comprising an electrode body having a tube-shaped body that defines a hollow interior and one or more inserts affixed to the electrode body to form a cutting surface on the electrode assembly, positioning the electrode assembly adjacent a workpiece to be machined, and providing power to the electrode assembly so as to energize the electrode assembly, with the electrode assembly and the workpiece being at opposite electrical polarities. The method also includes advancing the electrode assembly through the workpiece, with a working gap being maintained between the inserts and the workpiece across which a pulse electric current is passed to remove material from the workpiece, wherein, upon advancing the electrode assembly through the workpiece, a core is formed that is completely separated from a remainder of the workpiece and is contained within the hollow interior of the electrode body.

Method for material recovery in electroerosion machining

An electronic packaging assembly having a semiconductor integrated circuit and a plurality of interconnect components is provided. The plurality of interconnect components is operatively coupled to the semiconductor integrated circuit. Further, one or more interconnect components include one or more support elements having a first surface and a second surface, and one or more spring elements having a first end and a second end, and wherein first ends of the one or more spring elements are coupled to the first surface or the second surface of a respective support element.

Interconnect devices for electronic packaging assemblies

A highly efficient combined cooling, heating, and power (CCHP) system is capable of providing 100% utilization of an energy generator used by the system by distributing thermal and electrical outputs of the energy generator to loads and/or other storage apparatuses. The CCHP system includes an energy generator, which can be a fuel cell and a waste heat recovery unit that assists in recovering thermal energy from the energy generator and returning it to the energy generator, and/or providing it to a thermal load, or a storage as needed or desired.

Dynamically responsive high efficiency CCHP system

A voltage booster allowing for increased utilization of low voltage, high current, unregulated DC power ('LVDC source'), such as, but not limited to, fuel cells, batteries, solar cells, wind turbines, and hydro-turbines. LVDC generation systems employing a variable low voltage DC-DC converter of the present disclosure may be used without a power inverter in applications requiring high voltage DC inputs and can also allow for the employment of common, low cost, reliable, low voltage energy storage chemistries (operating in the 12-48 VDC range) while continuing to employ the use of traditional inverters designed for high voltage power supplies. An embodiment of the DC boost converter includes a plurality of interleaved, isolated, full-bridge DC-DC converters arranged in a Delta-Wye configuration and a multi-leg bridge.

Power system for multiple power sources

Electrode for an electro-erosion process, includes a shaft, a body coupled to the shaft, a plurality of machining-inserts, an insulated layer, and a flushing cover disposed on the body and coupled to the shaft. The shaft includes a channel, a plurality of first openings and second openings, each opening connected to the channel. The body includes a plurality of main-flushing channels, where each channel is connected to a corresponding first opening. The plurality of machining-inserts is spaced apart from each other along a circumferential direction and detachably coupled to a peripheral end portion of the body. Each machining-insert includes at least one third opening connected to a corresponding main-flushing channel. The insulated layer is disposed on top and bottom surfaces of the body. The flushing cover includes a plurality of side-flushing channels and a plurality of fourth openings, where each channel is connected to a corresponding second opening.

A synthetic jet assembly includes a synthetic jet having a cavity and an opening formed therein. The synthetic jet assembly also includes an actuator element coupled to a second surface of the body to selectively cause displacement of the second surface, and a control unit electrically coupled to the actuator element. The control unit is configured to transmit a multi-frequency drive signal to the actuator element, the multi-frequency drive signal comprising a cooling frequency component and an acoustic frequency component superimposed on the cooling frequency component. The cooling frequency component causes a cooling jet to eject from the opening of the body. The acoustic frequency component produces a desired audible output.

Multi-function synthetic jet and method of manufacturing same

A vibrational fluid mover includes a housing having at least one actuator element positioned thereon that vibrates responsive to a wave shape voltage applied thereto, such that a volume of a chamber in the housing increases and decreases to entrain and eject fluid into/out from the chamber. A control system is operably connected to the actuator element to cause the voltage to be provided thereto so as to actively control the movement of the actuator element. The control system is programmed to set a baseline value for an operational parameter of the vibrational fluid mover generated responsive to a target voltage and frequency being provided, monitor operation of the vibrational fluid mover during operation at the target voltage and frequency, identify a deviation of the operational parameter from the baseline value, and modify the voltage and frequency provided to the actuator element based on any deviation of the operational parameter.

Vibrational fluid mover active controller

A system for cooling electronics includes at least two modular thermal energy storage cards stacked in one of a horizontal or a vertical stack, where the stack provides cooling to a portion to electronics. The cards include: a thermally conductive enclosure bounding an interior cavity, a cell wall structure that includes cells disposed within the interior cavity and in thermal communication with the thermally conductive enclosure, a phase change material having a melting point where the phase change material disposed within the cells and in thermal communication with cell walls of the cells, and a thermally conductive interface disposed between the thermally conductive enclosure and a portion of the electronics that includes a heat generating surface. The thermally conductive interface extends from the interior cavity a distance beyond the interior cavity of the enclosure and is in contact with the heat generating surface.

Thermal capacitance system

A vibrational fluid mover assembly having an active damping mechanism is disclosed. The vibrational fluid mover assembly includes a vibrational fluid mover having a first plate, a second plate spaced apart from the first plate, a spacer element having an orifice formed therein and being positioned between the first and second plates to maintain the first and second plates in a spaced apart relationship, and an actuator element coupled to at least one of the first and second plates to selectively cause deflection thereof such that a fluid flow is generated and projected out from the orifice. The vibrational fluid mover assembly also includes an absorber system connected to the vibrational fluid mover and providing active damping to the vibrational fluid mover, with the absorber system having suspension tabs coupled to the vibrational fluid mover and spring components configured to mount the vibrational fluid mover in a suspended arrangement.
