Disclosed are new acridone dye derivatives having characteristic fluorescence lifetimes. Also disclosed are methods for labelling target biological materials employing the acridone dyes and use of the labelled materials in biological assays. The acridone derivatives have the following structure: in which Zand Zrepresent the atoms necessary to complete one ring, two fused ring, or three fused ring aromatic or heteroaromatic systems, each ring having five or six atoms selected from carbon atoms and optionally no more than two atoms selected from oxygen, nitrogen and sulphur; R, R, Rand Rare selected from hydrogen, halogen, amide, hydroxyl, cyano, nitro, mono- or di-nitro-substituted benzyl, amino, mono- or di-C-Calkyl-substituted amino, sulphydryl, carbonyl, carboxyl, C-Calkoxy, acrylate, vinyl, styryl, aryl, heteroaryl, C-Calkyl, aralkyl, sulphonate, sulphonic acid, quaternary ammonium, the group -E-F and the group &#x2014;(CH&#x2014;)Y; Ris selected from hydrogen, mono- or di-nitro-substituted benzyl, C-Calkyl, aralkyl, the group -E-F and the group &#x2014;(CH&#x2014;)Y; where E is a spacer group, F is a target bonding group; Y is selected from sulphonate, sulphate, phosphonate, phosphate, quaternary ammonium and carboxyl; and n is an integer from 1 to 6. The invention also relates to a set of different fluorescent acridone dye derivatives, each dye having a different fluorescence lifetime, the set of dyes being particularly useful for multiparameter analysis.

Acridone derivatives as labels for fluorescence detection of target materials

The present invention provides fluorescent cyanine dye-based nucleotide analogues, in which the cyanine dye is coupled to the &#x3b3;-phosphate group of a nucleoside triphosphate. Preferred embodiments of the invention are directed to fluorescent cyanine dye-based GTP analogues which may be employed in an homogeneous FRET-based assay to measure the binding of guanine nucleotides to GPCR polypeptides, or alternatively, to measure the effect of an exogenous ligand on GPCR protein binding.

Quinacridone derivatives as labelling reagents for fluorescence detection of biological materials

To extract a bushing from a housing, a number of cylindrical engaging elements are inserted in the bore of the bushing. The elements are clipped together by clips and have a lip which bears on the bushing end surface. An extractor head pushes on the elements to force the bushing from the housing.

Cyanine dyes

The present invention discloses a method of separating or distinguishing carbohydrate substances. More particularly the method includes using fluorescent labeling reagents which have a positive charge when bound to a carbohydrate, involves separating the labeled carbohydrate substances, such as by performing electrophoresis to cause differential migration of different labeled carbohydrate substances, or by isoelectric focusing in a pH gradient. The fluorescent labeling reagents are preferably cyanine dyes.

Analysis of carbohydrates

A device for pulling a bushing from a housing comprises a collet having legs which are expanded outwards by a cam action. The collet and cam are mounted on a shaft and the collet legs pushed onto a conical cam surface of the cam to expand them outwards. Ribs on the outer surface of the legs engage the end of the bushing as the shaft is withdrawn through the bushing and housing, pulling the bushing from the housing.
