A method of p-type doping cadmium telluride (CdTe) is disclosed. The method comprising the steps of, (a) providing a first component comprising cadmium telluride (CdTe) comprising an interfacial region, and (b) subjecting the CdTe to a functionalizing treatment to obtain p-type doped CdTe, said functionalizing treatment comprising a thermal treatment of at least a portion of the interfacial region in the presence of a first material comprising a p-type dopant, and of a second material comprising a halogen. A method of making a photovoltaic cell is also disclosed.

An exemplary embodiment of the invention is a method and apparatus for calculating at least one confidence interval. The method comprises activating a calculator. The calculator prompts the user to enter at least three pairs of calibration data. The user then specifies a reference for the calibration data. The calculator then generates a list of the calibration data. The calculator then calculates a linear calibration curve derived from the calibration data. The calculator then calculates a residual calibration value plot derived from the calibration data. The user enters an unknown sample output measurement. The calculator calculates a back-calculated unknown sample input measurement. The calculator lastly calculates a confidence interval for the back-calculated unknown sample input measurement.

Method and apparatus for calculating confidence intervals

An apparatus for thallium-containing superconductor with grains having c-axis alignment perpendicular to the plane of the substrate is fabricated by controlling the thallium oxide vapor partial pressure during the steps of warming the precursor, reaction soaking the precursor with the thallium oxide vapor, and cooling the thallium-containing precursor in a thallium oxide vapor below about 10.sup.-3 atmospheres.

Apparatus for fabrication of superconductor

A method is disclosed for forming polycrystalline thallium system superconductors having high current carrying capacity and high magnetic field behavior. A precursor deposit is formed comprised of silver, in an amount of about 1 to 20 mole percent of total metals in the precursor deposit, and the balance oxides of calcium, barium, and copper in ratios for forming the superconductor. The precursor deposit is annealed in an oxidizing atmosphere, and in the presence of a source of thallous oxide. The source of thallous oxide is heated to a first temperature selected to incorporate thallium into the deposit in an amount of about 6 to 22 mole percent of metals in the superconductor, and the precursor deposit is heated to a second temperature to form the superconductor.

A tunable laser system emitting coherent radiation selectively variable over the range of wavelengths from about 2760 A to about 3220 A utilizes a crystal, composed of fluoride of at least a Column IIIb metal doped with trivalent ions of cerium and pumped with high average power pulses. The crystal is emplaced in an optical cavity having means such as diffraction grating, etalon, or optically-tunable prism, to vary the coherent emission wavelength.

A fluorescent lamp having a phosphor layer for converting radiation at a first non-visible wavelength to radiation in the visible spectrum, includes a second phosphor layer for converting other non-visible radiation, having a deleterious effect (depreciation) on the first phosphor layer, to wavelengths in the region containing the first wavelength for subsequent conversion to visible light, thus increasing the brightness of the fluorescent lamp simultaneous with minimization of early depreciation of lamp brightness.
