A supercharging system for a gas turbine system is provided supercharging system having a fan mechanically coupled to the turbine shaft of the turbine system. A bypass subsystem is provided or optionally conveying a portion of the airstream output to other uses. The supercharging system may also be used in conjunction with a combined cycle power system and a bypass subsystem optionally conveys a portion of the airstream output to a heat recovery steam generator.

Gas turbine compressor inlet pressurization and flow control system

A system for pre-heating a working fluid within a combustor includes a compressor for providing the working fluid to the combustor. An outer casing is disposed downstream from the compressor. The outer casing at least partially defines a high pressure plenum that at least partially surrounds the combustor. A combustion chamber is defined within the combustor downstream from the high pressure plenum. A catalytic combustor is disposed within the high pressure plenum upstream from the combustion chamber so as to provide thermal energy to the working fluid upstream from the combustion chamber.

Duct burner systems include a primary duct configured to receive a primary flow stream of exhaust gases from an exhaust duct and a secondary duct configured to receive a secondary flow stream of exhaust gases from the exhaust duct. Primary and secondary variable geometry diverters may be configured to allow and restrict the primary and secondary flow streams, respectively. A combustion system may receive the secondary flow stream, combine it with at least one low BTU fuel source, combust for heating the secondary flow stream, and re-inject the heated secondary flow stream into the primary duct. A blower may be used to blow the secondary flow stream through the combustion system. In addition, a system controller may be used to control the stoichiometric flow ratio between the low BTU fuel flow source and the secondary flow stream by actuating the primary and secondary variable geometry diverters.

A method for assembling a fuel supply system for use with a power generation system. The method includes coupling a fuel heater to a fuel source for heating a fuel. A first heating assembly is coupled to the fuel heater for heating a first flow of water channeled to the fuel heater. A heat recovery steam generator assembly  is coupled to the fuel heater for channeling a second flow of heated water to the fuel heater. A valve assembly is coupled between the first heating assembly, the heat recovery steam generator assembly, and the fuel heater to enable a flow of heated water from the first heating assembly and the heat recovery steam generator assembly to be selectively channeled to the fuel heater.

System and methods for pre-heating fuel in a power plant

A cycle for producing pressurized gas turbine inlet conditions by capturing gas turbine exhaust waste heat, converting the heat into steam energy and applying the steam energy to drive a variable speed, supercharging fan located at the gas turbine inlet. The supercharging fan is used to increase the air mass flow rate into the gas turbine so that the gas turbine shaft horsepower can be augmented. For a simple cycle gas turbine that is not equipped with an exhaust waste heat recovery system, the invention improves the overall cycle efficiency. For combined cycle peaking applications, the variable speed, supercharging fan provides peaking output with an overall peaking efficiency that is better than the combined efficiency of a base load combined cycle plant and a peaking simple cycle plant. The invention can also improve a gas turbine power output response rate.
