A riser monitoring assembly is provided to monitor and manage a riser extending between subsea well equipment and a floating vessel. A riser measurement instrument module is connected adjacent a selected portion of the riser provides dynamic orientation data for the selected portion of the riser. A computer having a memory associated therewith and riser system analyzing management software stored thereon is in communication with the riser measurement module to process data received therefrom. The riser monitoring assembly can utilize real-time orientation data for the selected portion of the riser to analyze the riser dynamic behavior, to determine a model of the real-time structure of the riser, to determine and manage the existence of vortex induced vibration, to determine and manage riser stress levels, to manage riser inspection and riser maintenance, and to supplement determination and management of the position of the vessel.

System for sensing riser motion

A system, method, and software for optimizing the commingling of well fluids from a plurality of producing subsea wells. The mixing temperature and water content in each header of a collection manifold are calculated for each subsea well and header combinations, responsive to data from sensors at the collection manifold. Combinations with conditions outside operational limits are then discarded. Remaining combinations are ranked based on predetermined optimization criteria. The ranked combinations are provided for the operator for optimizing flow properties and well fluid production. The calculations can restart with new, real-time sensed values from the subsea collection manifold.

Online thermal and watercut management

A marine buoy for the offshore support of subsea production and drilling activities that has a closed-bottomed base section with a solid ballast and variable ballast chambers, a chamber in the base section for storing equipment and supplies, and an upper section with a smaller cross-sectional area than the base section having an elevator shaft leading from the top of the upper section to the chamber in the base section. The upper section supports a deck for housing process equipment for operations that the marine buoy is supporting.

Sensor failure in an oil and gas production system is monitored and detected by checking the consistency of the measurements of the sensor in question using a computer-based process model with the measurements of the other sensors in the system. The present invention also generates a back-up value for a failing sensor with the process model by identifying the value that is most consistent with the measurements of the other sensors in the system.

Method for detecting and correcting sensor failure in oil and gas production system

A method and system for separating and treating water produced from a subsea well includes separating the water subsea, and then separating the water from residual hydrocarbons on a surface vessel. The water treated at the surface, can be dumped to sea or injected into other subsea wells. The residual hydrocarbons separated on the vessel can be conveyed subsea for transportation to a processing facility along with hydrocarbons from the subsea separator. Also, the residual hydrocarbons from the surface separator can be used to fuel gas powered equipment in order to drive other equipment or to generate electricity for the vessel.
