A shingle comprises an overlay, an underlay, and a height increasing material disposed between the overlay and the underlay. The height increasing material includes a first adhesive adhered to the overlay, height increasing granules adhered to the first adhesive, and a second adhesive adhered to the height increasing granules and the underlay. The height increasing material can extend along front ends of tab portions of the overlay, along front cutout edges that extend between tab portions of the overlay, or both.

Shingles with a thick appearance

An exemplary laminated shingle includes an overlay sheet having a top overlay surface, a bottom overlay surface, a headlap portion, and a tab portion arranged between two-cutouts. The shingle also includes an underlay sheet having a top underlay surface and a bottom underlay surface. The overlay sheet is attached to the underlay sheet such that a portion of the top underlay surface is exposed on a first side of the tab portion and a portion of the top underlay surface is exposed on a second side of the tab portion.

Hip and ridge shingle

Shingle blanks are provided. The shingle blanks include an underlay portion having a substrate coated with an asphalt coating and granules, the underlay portion having an upper edge and a lower edge. An overlay portion is adhered to the underlay portion, the overlay portion having a plurality of continuous layered segments, the layered segments having a sealant bead therebetween. A plurality of perforation lines extend in a substantially perpendicular direction from the upper edge to the lower edge of the underlay portion. The plurality of perforation lines are sufficient to facilitate separation of the shingle blank to form hip and ridge roofing shingles configured for application across a ridge or hip.

A roofing shingle includes an underlay sheet, an overlay sheet, and a structural lattice layer bonded between the underlay sheet and the overlay sheet.
