A method for preparing solid materials is described. One aspect of the method includes the steps of providing a mixture comprising an organic material in a blend of a solvent and non-solvent for the organic material, distributing the mixture into either droplets or granules, and evaporating the solvent and non-solvent mixture to form particles having an average size of from about 0.5 &#x3bc;m to about 5000 &#x3bc;m.

Method to improve characteristics of spray dried powders and granulated materials, and the products thereby produced

A method for preparing solid materials is described. One aspect of the method includes the steps of (a) providing a feedstock comprising an organic material(s) in a solvent system containing a non-solvent for the organic material at an elevated temperature and/or pressure above ambient conditions, (b) distributing the feedstock into either droplets or a film, and (d) evaporating the solvent system from the feedstock.

Formulation process method to produce spray dried products

Carotenoid compositions of enhanced solubility and bioavailability are described that contain at least one carotenoid with at least one solubility-enhancing polymer. In one embodiment, the carotenoid is a provitamin A carotenoid such as &#x3b2;-carotene. In another embodiment the carotenoid is a non-provitamin A carotenoid such as lycopene or lutein. Described methods to produce the bioenhanced products include dry blending and solvent spray drying. In accordance with certain embodiments of the invention, the method includes the steps of providing a mixture comprising the carotenoid, a solubility-enhancing polymer and a solvent and removing the solvent to produce an amorphous form of the carotenoid. Products made by the invention's compositions and methods include pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, cosmetic, and personal care products for man and animal.
