A guitar multi-effects pedalboard is provided. The pedalboard has one or more footswitches, an electronic display, and a memory storing guitar-effect presets for processing an inputted guitar signal when the processing is triggered by pressing a footswitch. The presets include signal chains with two or more guitar-effect pedal simulators that simulate two or more guitar-effect pedals. The pedalboard also has one or more processors coupled to the electronic display and the memory. The processors are configured to process an inputted guitar signal when the processing is triggered by pressing a footswitch. The processors are also configured to display, on the electronic display, an image of the signal chains, which includes an image of pedals and an image of existing simulated connections between pedals. Signal routing in the signal chain may be changed by touching the image of a pedal and dragging the image to a destination position.

A step sequencer with a four by sixteen grid of buttons is disclosed. The sequencer is used to generate patterns of sounds on different channels. The sequencer can be used as a hardware controller to control music production software. The grid of the sequencer emulates the virtual grid generated in a graphical user interface by the music production software. The grid of the hardware controller is used to control the corresponding grid on the graphical user interface.

The user interface is designed with a virtual display and parallel sets of controls which enable virtual representations of audio waveforms to be scrolled relative to an axis of time above the respective set of controllers used to manipulate the audio signal stream.

A music touch control system for an audio performance product is disclosed. The system includes a touch control surface configured and arranged to set and cause activation for playing a tone in an audio performance product; and a visual indicator connected to the touch control surface representing semitones of the tone. The visual indicator has a neutral tone point with +12 semitones above the neutral tone point and &#x2212;12 semitones below the neutral point. Touching the control surface along the length thereof causes the audio performance product to play the semitone corresponding to the portion of the touch control surface touched and the visual indicator to indicate the semitone of the selected semitone. The system can be used to represent the playing time of a song and permit navigation instantly to a point in the song.

A controller for a tablet computing device is disclosed. The controller has a body having a number of control surfaces. A dock is on the body and has an L-shaped groove configured and arranged to receive a tablet computing device docked therein. A microcontroller is configured and arranged to detect interactions with the control surfaces and transmit the interactions to the tablet computing device. An analog output is configured and arranged to receive audio signals from the tablet computing device whereby interactions from the control surfaces are processed by the tablet computing device into audio signals for transmission through the audio output.
