Systems and methods receive user feedback during user interaction with at least one printing apparatus to record user annoyance measurements for one or more users into memory of at least one computerized device. The systems and methods automatically calculate one or more user annoyance curves for the users from the user annoyance measurements. The annoyance curves relate to one or more performance characteristics of the printing apparatus. The systems and methods automatically select a specific annoyance curve from the annoyance curves depending upon which of the users is utilizing the printing apparatus. The systems and methods automatically determine a performance characteristic level for the printing apparatus that will maintain user annoyance below a predetermined standard for each of the users using the specific annoyance curve for each user. The systems and methods automatically set components of the printing apparatus to operate so as to achieve the identified performance characteristic level.

Resource saving while avoiding customer wait annoyance

A method evaluates printhead position in a staggered full width array (SFWA) printhead assembly. The method includes selecting a first printhead configuration for printing a first test pattern on an image receiving member, generating positional correction data for roll and stitch displacements obtained from captured image data of the first test pattern, comparing the positional correction data to at least one threshold in a displacement range, and operating at least one printhead actuator in accordance with the positional correction data in response to the positional correction data exceeding at least one predetermined threshold in the displacement range.

A system evaluates image quality in an image generating system. The system includes a test pattern generator configured to generate an image with an image generating system, an image capture device configured to generate a digital signal corresponding to the generated test pattern, an image evaluator configured to process the digital signal to detect and correct anomalies detected in the generated test pattern, a plurality of calibration tools, each calibration tool being comprised of at least one test pattern, at least one set of detection criteria, and at least one set of anomaly correction parameters, and a controller configured to select the calibration tools for operation of the test pattern generator and the image evaluator in accordance with a predetermined sequence that attenuates changes arising from application of correction parameters of one calibration tool upon a later selected calibration tool.

System and method for evaluating and correcting image quality in an image generating device

A system evaluates image quality in an image generating system in a manner that accounts for the interaction of the calibration tools used to evaluate and correct image quality in the image generating system. A solid ink delivery system for use with a plurality of solid ink sticks for use in solid ink printers is provided. The delivery system includes a guide for guiding the solid ink sticks in a prescribed path and a drive member for simultaneous engagement with a plurality of the solid ink sticks and extending along a portion of the prescribed path of the guide.

A solid ink stick feed system for use in a color printer is disclosed that utilizes a plurality of ink stick feed receptacles in an ink stick feed bin of predetermined shapes corresponding to the plurality of shapes of the ink sticks such that an incorrectly matched ink stick shape or incorrectly oriented ink stick is retained in a raised position to indicate to the printer operator that the ink stick should be removed and to facilitate grasping and removing such ink stick.

An apparatus and method are described for applying an intermediate transfer surface, in the form of a liquid layer, on a support surface that may be used in a phase change ink printing system. The apparatus includes an applicator assembly with a leak-free valving system for distributing the liquid layer onto the support surface to produce the intermediate transfer surface and a means for metering the liquid layer uniformly on the support surface. The applicator assembly has a wick contact surface for removing foreign matter from and delivering the liquid onto the support surface. An improved liquid dispensing system is provided to provide the liquid to the wick which becomes saturated and, when brought into contact with the rotatable support surface of a transfer drum, applies the liquid in a layer to the support surface to form a liquid intermediate transfer surface.

A microwave interconnect for integrated or hybrid circuits includes a flexible sheet bearing a flexible conductor which is divided into a plurality of insulated conductive lines, at least some of which make contact with the integrated or hybrid circuit, as well as with a second circuit to which the first is thereby connected. The flexible sheet is backed by a body of elastomeric material and a compression bar which assures good electrical contact of the flexible conductor with the circuits when the compression bar is tightened down on the circuits. The construction allows some degree of misregistration of parts while providing circuit coupling operative at high frequencies.

A capacitive tuning screw comprises a threaded portion with a longitudinal cavity for slidably receiving a plunger shaft. If the capacitive element on the tip of the plunger shaft contacts the corresponding capacitive element on the surface of an electrical circuit board or substrate, further turning of the screw will cause the shaft to slide into the cavity and prevent crushing the circuit board or substrate. A shoulder on the screw stops rotation and longitudinal movement of the screw before the entire length of the plunger shaft slides into the cavity.
