A backrest includes a primary frame having a pair of laterally spaced first uprights defining a first opening therebetween, a first front surface and a first rear surface. A secondary frame includes a pair of laterally spaced second uprights defining a second opening therebetween, a second rear surface facing the first front surface of the primary frame and a second front surface, wherein the secondary frame is coupled to the primary frame, and wherein at least portions of the first and second openings are aligned. A flexible shell overlies and is coupled to the second front surface of the secondary frame. The flexible shell includes a third rear surface visible through the aligned portions of the first and second openings.

Compliant backrest

A backrest includes a frame having a pair of laterally spaced upright members connected with longitudinally spaced upper and lower members. A flexible shell has opposite sides coupled to the upright members and upper and lower portions coupled to the upper and lower members. The shell includes first and second slots extending longitudinally along opposite sides of the shell inboard of locations where the shell is connected to the upright members, and one or more third slots extending laterally along the lower portion of the shell above a location where the shell is connected to the lower member. Terminal ends of the one or more third slots are spaced apart from lower terminal ends of the first and second slots. In other embodiments, the shell is a three-dimensional molded component having a plurality of openings. In various embodiments, the slots and/or openings provide different levels of compliance to the backrest.

A seating arrangement includes a seat assembly, a back assembly operably coupled to the seat assembly, and a headrest assembly coupled to the back assembly. The headrest assembly including a support arrangement pivotably coupled to the back assembly for pivoting movement about a first pivot axis, a headrest member pivotably coupled to the support arrangement for pivoting movement about a second pivot axis that is spaced from the first pivot axis, and a sliding arrangement coupling the headrest member to the support arrangement to allow sliding vertical adjustment of the headrest member with respect to the support arrangement along an arcuate path.

A slow cooker includes a base having a heating element coupled thereto, a cooking vessel removably positioned in a compartment defined in the base, and a removable lid coupled to the cooking vessel. The cooking vessel has a cooking chamber defined therein. The removable lid includes a first panel that pivots between an open position in which access to the cooking chamber is permitted and a closed position in which access to the cooking chamber is prevented. The removable lid includes a second panel that also pivots between an open position in which access to the cooking chamber is permitted and a closed position in which access to the cooking chamber is prevented.

A hand mixer includes an outer casing and a mixing element coupled to an electric motor. The hand mixer includes a cord guide that is configured to pivot about a pivot axis, an electrical cord extending through the cord guide, and a retaining clip that engages the cord guide to couple the cord guide to the outer casing. The hand mixer also includes a locking mechanism operable to retain the cord guide in a first position about the pivot axis.

An armrest assembly is provided for adjusting an armrest of a seating unit in three degrees of motion. The armrest assembly includes an angle-adjustment mechanism that allows the armrest to pivot and to translate forward, and a lift mechanism that enables vertical articulation of the armrest. The angle-adjustment assembly includes a pivot bracket with a downwardly disposed pin and a shuttle with an arcuate slot to receive the pin. The arcuate slot includes contoured walls that form detents for restricting movement of the pin, thereby restraining rotation of the shuttle, with respect to the pivot bracket, to predefined angular positions. The lift mechanism includes a rack with ride element(s) extending therefrom and locking teeth, and a control bar with track(s). An upward manual actuation of the control bar causes the track to shift laterally and retract the locking teeth, via interaction between the track(s) and ride element(s), respectively.

A floor sweeper for recovering material from a surface to be cleaned comprises a handle assembly pivotably attached to a foot assembly. The foot assembly comprises a housing forming a brush chamber having a bottom opening. The foot assembly comprises a pair of driving gears and a split brush assembly rotatably mounted within the brush chamber and adapted to contact the surface through the opening. The brush assembly comprises two separately-rotatable halves each corresponding to one of the driving gears, with each half comprising a brush core, brush paddles or bristles affixed to an exterior of the brush core, and a brush gear adapted for rotation with the brush core. Each brush gear is driven by a corresponding driving gear to the corresponding brush core as the floor assembly is moved across the surface in order to drive the brushes to cleaning of the surface.
