The invention, as embodied herein, comprises an improved portable maritime scoring and simulation system that comprises three or more buoys that are deployed in an area of water selected for maritime combat training. Attached to each buoy are a global positioning system receiver, an RF radio system, an acoustic analysis system, and a microprocessor. The acoustic analysis system is designed to capture an acoustic signature of ordnance impacting the water with predetermined characteristics. The system includes an RF radio repeater system linked to a system controller to control and monitor the elements of the system. In operation, when an acoustic signature is captured by the acoustic analysis system, the RF radio system, in one embodiment, transmits the time of the capture along with the GPS location of the buoy to the RF radio repeater system linked to the system controller. When three or more buoys transmit a captured acoustic signature, the system controller computes the location of impact using a location process. The invention also includes an improved method of controlling the system.

An electronic firing circuit tester (EFCT) that senses and indicates the status of electrical firing circuits for a gun. The EFCT requires no batteries or other maintenance and can display up to four tests of a gun's firing circuit.

The present invention comprises a capacitor, of sufficient area to cover the glass seal of a cartridge actuated ordnance device, comprising a low pass filter. This capacitor connects to the leads of the cartridge actuated ordnance device in a fashion that covers the glass seal of the cartridge. Although the capacitor is not directly contacting the glass seal, it is located proximately so that very few frequencies of EMR can enter the seal, wherein a safe level of EMR is achieved. The capacitor also filters both EMR and ESD that come through the leads of the cartridge.

An electromagnetic flux suppression includes a three stage filtering system to protect against electromagnetic interference and electrostatic discharge and has a first stage high voltage section that filters a high voltage pulse by providing a spark gap to ionize the ambient air and thus effectively form a shunt. A second stage filter has a front end capacitive interface followed by an inductive line to filter out radio frequency arcing that occurs between two bodies thus exposing them to radio frequency radiation. A third stage filter includes a radio frequency low pass filter to reinforce the capacitive inductance filter.
