An improved slat assembly and curtain for a rolling door assembly employing the improved slat are provided. The slat assembly has a primary slat with a lower bead having a downwardly facing cavity which is used to retain an elastomeric sealing strip which seals the space between adjacent interlocked slats in the curtain. The slat assembly may be provided with a backer slat and material filling a void between the primary slat and backer slat to improve the thermal insulation and/or acoustical insulation and absorption properties of the slat assembly and curtain.

An aerated grit tank is provided having a longitudinally extending control wall dividing the tank into parallel lift and settling chambers. An air discharge apparatus is provided at the bottom of the lift chamber to induce an upward flow of sewage causing a generally helical flow of sewage around the control wall. The control wall is supported in the tank by mechanisms selectively operable to vertically position the wall with a bottom longitudinally extending edge in predetermined spaced relationship to a bottom floor of the tank whereby the velocity of the cross currents may be effectively controlled. One form of the structure has a single control wall unit while a second form of the invention has two wall forming panels with an uppermost panel supported in fixed relationship to the tank and a lowermost panel supported for vertical displacement.

Aerated grit tank

A dual position cam cleat for use principally on small sailing boats and crafts for maintaining the sail ropes taut. The dual position cam cleat comprises a pair of serrated jaws to grip the rope in either direction. The dual jaws are positioned side-by-side and displaced approximately 90.degree. to 120.degree. apart and mutually pivotable about a common point to either direction. The jaws in a crossdirection comprise a serrated and a non-serrated portion. The non-serrated and smooth portion permits rope slippage for adjusting the tension without movement of the cam cleat. The dual cam cleat is shifted from the one gripping jaw to the other by the sailor vertically jerking the line. A spring means connected between the pivot point and the support member maintains the one jaw in an active position and the other jaw in a passive condition and offers a 'crisp' toggling or snapping action when reversing the tension members. A swivel base permits the entire dual structure to be swiveled to any angle within 180.degree. and thereby maintain a constant in-line direction. The dual position cam cleat of the invention provides the unique capability of a continuous line operating a jib or spinnaker leading through only one cam cleat. The necessity of having a cam cleat for each direction has been obviated.

Dual directional cam cleat

A hammer is provided for pulverizing and comminutating apparatus of the hammer mill-type with this hammer including both tearing and shearing edges for enhanced effectiveness in obtaining size reduction of both friable and non-friable materials. This pulverizer hammer includes a relatively narrow tearing edge which is disposed in spaced parallel relationship to the pivot bearing of the hammer. A side edge surface of the hammer associated with that tearing edge is formed in arcuately curved, receding relationship thereto for directing and urging particles of waste material radially outward toward the tearing edge where they will be subjected to further pulverizing action. A shearing edge is also formed along one corner of the side edge surface of the hammer and extends radially in receding relationship to the tearing edge. The arculately curved and contoured surface is also configured to extend in receding relationship with respect to the shearing edge. Both the tearing and shearing edges are preferably provided with a replaceable hard surface coat to substantially extend the operational life. The hammer is also formed with two pivot bearings and four sets of tearing and shearing edges to permit reversible mounting of the hammer as to both end-to-end relationship and as to opposite side edge surface relationship thereby providing four material contacting faces to further extend the effective operational time period before replacement may be required of the hardened surface contact faces.
