A coaxial cable connector for coupling a coaxial cable to an equipment port, the coaxial cable including a center conductor surrounded by a dielectric material, the dielectric material being surrounded by an outer conductor, the coaxial cable connector including: a post including a first end adapted to be inserted into a prepared end of the coaxial cable between the dielectric material and the outer conductor, wherein the post includes a second end including an enlarged shoulder, wherein the enlarged shoulder has a radial face that faces away from the first end of the post, wherein the radial face is substantially flat; a body member adjacent to the post; a coupler including an internally-threaded region for engaging the equipment port; and a grounding member contacting the post and the coupler, wherein the grounding member provides an electrically-conductive grounding path through the post and the coupler while allowing the coupler to rotate, wherein the grounding member includes at least one resilient portion.

Electrical connector with grounding member

A coaxial cable connector includes tubular post, a coupler secured over an end of the tubular post for securing the connector to an appliance, and an outer body secured to the tubular post. An electrical grounding path is maintained between the coupler and the tubular post whether or not the coupler is tightly fastened to the appliance. The electrical grounding path is provided by a resilient, electrically-conductive grounding member disposed between the tubular post and the coupler. Alternatively, the connector includes conductive grease at a point where mating portions of the tubular post and coupler have closely matching dimensions.

Coaxial cable connector with grounding member

An electrical connector () for mounting in a mounting hole includes a body () and a mounting mechanism. The mounting mechanism includes a spring finger basket () that includes a base portion () and a plurality of spring fingers (). Each spring finger () is commonly connected at the base portion and has a tip () at a free end opposite the base portion. The base portion is attached to an outer surface of the body adjacent to a flange () in the outer surface. The tip of each spring finger is spaced apart from the body. An end cap () is attached to the outer surface of the body. The end cap has an outer lip () limiting outward radial movement and permitting inward radial movement of the tip of each spring finger during radial movement of the body with respect to the mounting mechanism. A coil spring () is attached to the outer surface of the body. A shroud () is attached to the body adjacent to a front side of the coil spring. The mounting mechanism permits simultaneous radial and axial movement of the body relative to the mounting mechanism.

Snap-in float-mount electrical connector

A surge-protected coaxial termination includes a metallic outer body, a center conductor extending through a central bore of the outer body, and a spark gap created therebetween to discharge high-voltage power surges. A pair of dielectric support insulators support the center conductor on opposite sides of the spark gap. High impedance inductive zones surround the spark gap to form a T-network low pass filter that nullifies the additional capacitance of the spark gap. An axial, carbon composition resistor is disposed inside the outer body, and inside the dielectric insulator to absorb the RF signal, and prevent its reflection. The resistor extends co-axially with the center conductor, and one end of the resistor is electrically coupled thereto. A blocking chip capacitor extends radially from the opposite end of the resistor to the grounded outer body. The opposing second end of the resistive component may protrude from the metallic outer body and related dielectric material; the DC blocking capacitor preferably extends radially between the second end of the resistive component and the metallic outer body, or to a grounding post secured thereto.

Surge protected coaxial termination

A coaxial connector for connecting a coaxial member to a mating component includes a front body, a rear body, a center conductor, and a nut. The nut surrounds the front body and is locked against rotation relative to the front body; however, the nut can slide axially relative to the front body. A first end of the front body has a threaded surface for engaging a mating threaded component. The rear body includes a central bore coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the front body. A first end of the rear body surrounds the second end of the front body and is rotatably and slidably secured thereto, as by a retaining ring, between retracted and extended positions. The second end of the rear body is adapted to engage a coaxial member, e.g., the end of a coaxial cable. The center conductor is supported within the central bore of the front body by a supporting insulator to electrically and mechanically couple a center conductor of the coaxial member to a center conductor of the aforementioned mating component. As the first end of the front body is threadedly engaged with the mating component, the nut bears against the rear body and pushes it away from the front body. An O-ring is disposed between the second end of the front body and the central bore of the rear body; the O-ring is compressed to form a seal as the nut forces the rear body toward its extended position away from the front body.

Coaxial connector swivel interface

A solder-on connector for a coaxial cable includes a body having a bore for receiving the outer conductor of the cable, a center pin for connection with the center conductor of the cable, an insulator disposed within the bore of the body for supporting the center pin, and a nut or similar fastener for securing the connector to a mating connector. The insulator extends rearwardly within the body to abut the both the inner wall of the body and the inserted end of the outer conductor of the cable. The rearmost portion of the insulator serves as a solder dam to prevent excess solder from flowing into the bore of the body beyond the end of the outer conductor of the cable. The rearmost end of the body includes an enlarged diameter region for receiving a portion of the cable jacket. An inwardly-directed annular shoulder formed upon such enlarged diameter region captivates melted portions of the cable jacket when the outer conductor is soldered to the body.
