A method and apparatus for treating seeds with self-organized avalanches of electrons between electrodes (11, 12) as a cathode and an anode with seeds (13) between the anode and cathode or on the anode. Apparatus circuit (200) in a box (20) provides simultaneous DC and AC between the electrodes which creates the avalanche of electrons which project into the seeds. The seeds must be stored before planting. The seeds so treated have enhanced growth characteristics.

An improved fluid pressure activated piston return spring seal element is installed in a piston housing annular groove having first and second radial side walls, an axial base wall, and a mouth. The element is annular, formed of an elastomeric material, and has an axis, first and second radial faces, and an axial face. The first radial face faces toward the first side wall, defines an inwardly extending crotch region, and includes a base wall pressure sealing lip. The axial face faces toward and protrudes through the groove mouth and includes a piston pressure sealing lip and first and second angled surfaces. The element has a body portion, a first branch extending axially from the body portion toward the first radial face and having the piston pressure sealing lip, a second branch extending axially from the body portion toward the first radial face and having the base wall pressure sealing lip, and a third branch extending radially from the first branch end toward the second branch end and defining a portion of the first radial face. The body portion and the first, second, and third branches define the crotch region.

Fluid pressure activated piston return spring seal

A seal element for installation in an annular groove is disclosed. The groove has a mouth, first and second side walls, and a base wall axially extending between the side walls. The side walls extend toward each other as each side wall respectively approaches the mouth to form a dove-tail shape in toroidal cross-section. Within the groove, the first side wall meets the base wall at a generally inwardly rounded surface. The seal element is annularly shaped and has an external seal surface that in toroidal cross-section includes first and second arcual portions and a pair of flashing points. The first arcual portion contacts the side walls and the base wall and partially protrudes through the mouth of the groove. The second arcual portion is complementarily received by a portion of the inwardly rounded surface of the groove. The pair of mold flashing points are oppositely situated on the external seal surface, and each flashing point is positioned on a part of the external seal surface located away from a sealed fluid.

Seal element for installation in an annular dove-tail groove

A two-stage fluid seal assembly is provided for sealing between relatively moving parts, such as a piston and cylinder. The assembly comprises a hard-sealing, non-resilient material effective at high pressure and a resilient soft-sealing material effective at low pressures.

Antifriction fluid seal assembly

An oil well string member has a cylindrical outer periphery having first and second cylindrical surfaces axially spaced and connected by a tapered ramp. The surfaces are radially inwardly of the outer periphery. The first surface has a smaller diameter than the second surface. A seal assembly is provided along the first surface and arranged to respond to fluid pressure for moving the assembly across the ramp to the second surface to a sealing position.

Oil well string member with static seal

A sealing ring firmly grips a movable piston, performs the normal sealing function, and when pressure is released on the piston the sealing ring pulls back on the piston so as to retract the piston. The sealing ring is designed so as to fit in a conventional seal or 'O' ring groove without any modification of the groove.
