A remotely deployed untethered device for actuation of a downhole application. The device may be equipped with inductive measurement capacity for interaction with a downhole well architecture. Such capacity affords the ability to trigger an actuation remotely at a site specific location in the well without further intervention relative surface equipment.

Remote downhole actuation device

A technique includes deploying an untethered object though a passageway of a string in a well; and sensing a property of an environment of the string, an electromagnetic coupling or a pressure as the object is being communicated through the passageway. The technique includes selectively autonomously operating the untethered object in response to the sensing.

An electric submersible pump device has a pump and a motor. The motor can be adjacent to the pump. A support member supports the sensor and has a length so that the sensor is located a first distance downhole from a downhole distal end of the motor.

A system can include a transformer and a rectifier to derive DC power from AC power at a wye point of an electric motor; a sensor that includes a sensor signal output to output a sensor signal; a telemetry driver that includes a DC power input to receive the derived DC power and that includes an input to receive the sensor signal and an output to output a data signal representing the sensor signal; and circuitry to deliver the data signal representing the sensor signal to the wye point of the electric motor. Artificial lift equipment power line communication

A wireline telemetry system and method of transmitting data on multiple carrier frequencies. The system and method adjust power level and number of bits-per-carrier to optimally or near-optimally utilize the capacity of the wireline cable. Due to the nature of wireline telemetry the overall power level is restricted only by the output capability of the downhole telemetry cartridge and the input power restrictions of the uphole telemetry unit receiver. The optimal power level is determined during a training sequence and is a function of such factors as cable length, cable material, cable temperature and cable geometry. The uplink and downlink transmission are executed using different modulation techniques.

Method and apparatus for transmission of well-bore data on multiple carrier frequencies

A downhole string includes a liner and devices positioned outside the liner. One or more control lines extend from the liner devices along the exterior of the liner to one or more connectors that provide connection points inside the liner. The one or more connectors may include electrical connectors (e.g., direct contact connectors), inductive connectors (e.g., inductive couplers), optical connectors (e.g., fiber optic connectors), and hydraulic connectors. The one or more control lines may be electrical lines, fiber optic lines, or hydraulic lines. The downhole string may also be used with a cement protector during cementing operations to protect both the inside of the liner as well as the one or more connectors attached to the liner. The cement protector includes a sleeve that isolates cement from the inside of the liner during a cementing operation so that a liner wiper plug is not needed. The cement protector is engageable to a pulling tool that is attached to a running tool. The running tool in turn is connected to a pipe through which a cement slurry can be pumped. The cement slurry pumped through the inner bore of the pipe enters the sleeve of the cement protector. One or more ports are provided in the cement protector sleeve to enable communication of the cement slurry to an annulus region between the outer wall of the liner and the inner wall of the wellbore. If the apparatus and method is used with a casing, then a running tool may be omitted.
