A multi-layer X-ray detector comprises a first X-ray converter, a first sensor, a second X-ray converter, a second sensor, and an internal anti-scatter device. The first sensor is located at a first sensor layer and is configured to detect radiation emitted from the first X-ray converter. The second sensor is located at a second sensor layer and is configured to detect radiation emitted from the second X-ray converter. The first X-ray converter and the first sensor form a first detector pair, and the second X-ray converter and the second sensor form a second detector pair. The internal anti-scatter device comprises a plurality of X-ray absorbing septa walls and is located between the first detector pair and the second detector pair. No structure of the internal anti-scatter device is located within either layer of the first detector pair, and no structure of the anti-scatter device is located within either layer of the second detector pair. The plurality of septa walls comprises a plurality of first septa walls substantially parallel to each other, and wherein a spacing between the first septa walls in a first direction is equal to an integer multiple n of detector pixel pitch of the first sensor and/or of the second sensor in the first direction, wherein n=2, 3, 4, . . . N.

Multi-layer X-ray detector

The present invention relates to an X-ray anti-scatter grid (). The anti-scatter grid comprises a plurality of primary septa walls (), and a plurality of secondary septa walls (). The plurality of primary septa walls comprise an X-ray absorbing material. The plurality of primary septa walls are substantially parallel to one another. The plurality of secondary septa walls are located between adjacent pairs of walls of the plurality of primary septa walls such that each secondary septa wall is located between an adjacent pair of walls of the plurality of primary septa walls. Each secondary septa wall of the plurality of secondary septa walls is formed from a plurality of columnar structures () extending between the plurality of primary septa walls. The plurality of columnar structures comprise an X-ray absorbing material.

X-ray anti scatter grid

The present invention provides methods and devices for making an anti-scatter grid for a radiographic imaging device identifiable. A method for providing an anti-scatter grid () for a radiographic imaging device comprises forming, by an additive manufacturing process, a grid pattern () in accordance with a product specification of the anti-scatter grid () to be provided; and forming, by an additive manufacturing process, a number of structural modifications () in or at the grid pattern in a manner making the number of structural modifications () image-based recognizable when the anti-scatter grid () is viewed according to its intended use in a viewing direction from a radiation source of the radiographic imaging device, and in a unique identification pattern () creating a unique identifier to make the anti-scatter grid to be provided identifiable among one or more others.

The disclosure relates to an X-ray imaging system for acquiring two-dimensional or three-dimensional images of a subject. A relative position of an X-ray emitting region, as seen in a coordinate system which is stationary relative to an anti-scatter arrangement and/or an X-ray sensitive surface is controlled so that a first and a second image are acquired at different relative positions of the X-ray emitting region relative to the anti-scatter arrangement and/or the X-ray sensitive surface (). A data processing system of the imaging system generates an output image, based on each of the images. In the output image, artefacts generated by the anti-scatter arrangement, are reduced, suppressed or eliminated compared to the first and the second image.

X-ray imaging systems for reducing artefacts associated with anti-scatter grids and methods of operating the same

In a conventional radiation capturing device, such as an X-ray device or a CT scanner, a structured surface part, e.g. a scintillator array, is used that is manufactured by mechanical processing, e.g. by dicing and grinding. In order to modifying the scintillating properties of a scintillating material, further manufacturing steps, such as high temperature cycling like sintering etc., are performed in order to restore or at least improve the scintillating properties. This application proposes to form a structured surface part with a particle-in-binder structure containing scintillator or other radiation-relevant particles, using additive manufacturing with a photosensitive mixture to form a layer-wise structure. Therefore, subsequent manufacturing steps, such as sintering, can be omitted. The structured surface part is bendable.

The present invention relates to a radiation detector () comprising: i) a substrate (); ii) a sensor, which is coupled to the substrate, the sensor comprising a first array () of sensor pixels, a second array () of signal read-out elements, and an electronic circuitry which is configured to provide image data based on signals received from the signal read-out elements; iii) a transducer, which is coupled to the substrate and to the sensor, the transducer comprising a third array () of subpixels, wherein at least two subpixels are assigned to one sensor pixel; wherein the second array of signal read-out elements and the third array of subpixels correspond to each other; wherein each of the subpixels comprises a radiation conversion material.

Multi-piece mono-layer radiation detector

A radiation detector with first and second scintillator structures is disclosed. The first scintillator structure comprises a plurality of first scintillator pixels. The first scintillator pixels are separated by gaps, which may be filled with a reflective material to achieve an optical separation of the first scintillator pixels. The second scintillator structure is adapted to increase the absorption of radiation and the output of light. Thereto, the second scintillator structure overlaps at least partially the gaps between first scintillator pixels. The second scintillator structure is optically coupled to the first scintillator structure, so that light emitted by the second scintillator structure is fed into first scintillator pixels. The second scintillator structure may be mounted onto the first scintillator structure using additive manufacturing.

The invention relates to a method of manufacturing a structured grating, a corresponding structured grating component () and an imaging system. The method comprising the steps of: providing () a catalyst () on a substrate (), the catalyst () having a grating pattern; growing () nanostructures () on the catalyst () so as to form walls () and trenches () based on the grating pattern; and filling () the trenches () between the walls () of nanostructures () using an X-ray absorbing material (). Structured grating component, imaging system and manufacturing method

A multi-functional and multi-modality radiation detector () is provided. The radiation detector () comprises at least two detector units () having photosensitive pixels () and at least one scintillation device () optically coupled to the photosensitive pixels (). The detector units () are arranged next to each other on a substrate foil (). Therein, the scintillation devices () of the detector units () are spaced apart from each other, such that the radiation detector () is bendable. Device and method for aligning an X-ray grating to an X-ray radiation source, and X-ray image acquisition system

The invention relates to a combined imaging detector for detection of gamma and x-ray quanta comprising an x-ray detector () for generating x-ray detection signals in response to detected x-ray quanta and a gamma detector () for generating gamma detection signals in response to detected gamma quanta. The x-ray detector () and the gamma detector () are arranged in a stacked configuration along a radiation-receiving direction ().
