A latching device for an operating mechanism for an electrical switching apparatus. The device has a locking member movable between a first position and a second position. In the first position the locking member is arranged to lock a drive member of the operating mechanism in a locked position, and a force of the drive member being applied to a contact portion of the locking member. In the second position the locking member is arranged to release the drive member from the locked position. At least in the first position the locking member is arranged to bear against the counter roller. A tripping member is movable between a first position locking the locking member and a second position releasing the locking member. The locking member has a first portion and a second portion. The first portion is rotatable connected to a first link around a first pivot axis, which first pivot axis is movable perpendicular to its direction. The second portion is rotatable connected to a second link around a second pivot axis and movable perpendicular to its direction. The second link is rotatable connected to the tripping element around a third pivot axis. Movement of the tripping member from its first position to its second position initiates movement of the contact portion out of force-transmitting relation with the drive member.

Latching device and an operating mechanism with such a latching device

A spring operated actuator for an electric switching apparatus including an actuator spring and a rotary air damper. The damper has components that are rotatable relative to each other and is arranged to decelerate the actuating movement during an end portion. The damper has a toroidal working chamber with internal wall surfaces formed by two circumferential housing parts. They are rotatable relative to each other and are meeting each other such that a first and a second gap are formed. There is a seal between the two housing parts, which bridges the respective gap. The seal has a first circumferential seal at the first gap and a second circumferential seal at the second gap. At least one of the first and second seals includes a sealing body fitted in a groove formed in the internal walls of at least one housing part.

Spring operated actuator for an electric apparatus

Actuator and electric switching apparatus including a spring to provide movement of the apparatus and a rotary air damper. The damper is arranged to decelerate the spring during at least an end portion of movement. The damper has a toroidal working chamber formed by two circumferential housing parts rotatable relative to each other. Each housing part has internal walls which together define the working chamber. The first housing part has a rotatable displacement wall, sealingly rotatable in the working chamber. The second housing part has a stationary end wall of the working chamber. The second housing part has one recess in its internal walls. The recess is located less than 90&#xb0; ahead the end wall as seen is the rotational direction of the displacement wall at an actuating movement. The recess has an extension in the circumferential direction that is larger than the effective thickness of the displacement wall. Alternatively the recess is on the first housing part.

Spring operated actuator

A spring operated actuator for an electrical switching apparatus. The actuator has a main shaft transmitting the actuation movement to the switching apparatus and has opening spring means and closing spring means. The opening spring means includes an opening torsion spring and the closing means includes a closing torsion spring. The axes of the torsion springs extend in the same direction and at a distance from each other that is less than 20% of the external opening spring diameter.

The invention describes a spring arrangement for spring drive unit, which spring arrangement comprises a spring, a pullrod connected at a first pullrod end to a first spring end of the spring and connected at an opposite second pullrod end to a rotary shaft of the spring drive unit, a frame plate against which a second spring end of the spring is mounted and the frame plate being provided with an opening through which the pullrod extends to be connected to the shaft. Further, the first spring end of the spring, to which the pullrod is connected, is unguided, and the parameters of the spring are chosen in response to the operating conditions of the spring drive unit such that the spring is stable during operation.
