An assembly () for composite manufacture is provided. The assembly comprises a cured resin impregnated reinforcement material () comprising a fibre component and a resin matrix component, in which the resin matrix component comprises polyurethane, the assembly having a length to width ratio of at least 5:1, and the assembly defining a longitudinal direction (L) along its length; and a peel ply () in contact with the cured resin impregnated reinforcement material (), the peel ply () comprising a woven layer having a plurality of longitudinal fibres () extending in the longitudinal direction (L); and a plurality of transverse fibres () extending in a transverse direction (T) normal to the longitudinal direction (L); in which the areal density of the plurality of transverse fibres () is higher than the areal density of the plurality of longitudinal fibres ().

Peel ply for elongate composite matertals

The present invention defines a pultrusion apparatus. The apparatus comprises a portion for receiving fibres, a portion for injecting resin into the fibres, a portion for impregnating the resin injected fibres, and a portion for shaping the impregnated fibres, wherein the fibres, following their passage through the receiving portion, converge in the resin injection portion to receive the resin and the resin flows outwards following injection as the fibres progress from the injection portion through the impregnation portion.

Pultrusion apparatus

Prepregs comprising fibrous reinforcing material and a heat curable resin are provided with a backing sheet whose surface has been treated to increase the surface tension which enhances the bonding between the prepreg and the backing sheet, and reduces resin removal when the backing sheet is removed. The use of the treated backing sheet also provides improved tack between prepregs when assembled in a stack for molding after removal of the backing sheet.

Prepreg materials

A method of producing molded articles. The method uses a fibrous material and a first and second resin material. The first resin material is at least partially cured before being combined with the fibrous material and the second resin material. The molding material is inserted into a mold and processed to form a molded article by providing energy. The molded article is produced using less energy than would be necessary for processing a molding material which did not include a partially cured first resin material.

Fibre reinforced composite moulding

A molding material comprising a fibrous reinforcement layer and a curable resin matrix. The fibrous reinforcement layer comprises a non-woven fabric comprising a single layer of unidirectional tows arranged at an angle greater than 0&#xb0; in relation to the lengthwise direction of the fabric and a support structure for maintaining the arrangement of the tows.
