In some embodiments, the present disclosure provides a composition comprising 1) about 97.5 wt % to about 99.9 wt % of a first polyethylene having a density of about 0.91 g/cmto about 0.94 g/cm, and a melt strength of about 10 mN or greater; and 2) about 0.1 wt % to about 2.5 wt % of a second polyethylene having an Mw of about 500,000 g/mol or more. In some embodiments, the composition is a film. In some embodiments, the present disclosure provides a method of making a composition comprising blending a first polyethylene of any embodiment described herein and a second polyethylene of any embodiment described herein.

Enhanced processability of LLDPE by addition of ultra-high molecular weight density polyethylene

The present invention relates to a branched modifier and a composition comprising more than 25 wt % (based on the weight of the composition) of one or more linear ethylene polymers having a g'of 0.97 or more and an Mw of 20,000 g/mol or more and at least 0.1 wt % of a branched modifier where the modifier has a) a g&#x2032;of 0.70 or less; b) an Mw of 100,000 g/mol or more; c) an Mw/Mn of 4.0 or more; d) a shear thinning ratio of 110 or more, e) a melt strength of 10 cN or more; f) a complex viscosity at 0.1 rad/sec at 190&#xb0; C. of at least 130,000 Pa&#xb7;s; and g) a phase angle of Z&#xb0; or less where Z=138.3G*, where G* is the complex modulus reported in Pascals measured at 190&#xb0; C. and the phase angle units are reported in degrees, wherein the G* is from 1,000 to 1,000,000 Pa.

Modified polyethylene compositions with enhanced melt strength

The present invention relates to a branched modifier and a composition comprising more than 25 wt % (based on the weight of the composition) of one or more linear ethylene polymers having a g'of 0.97 or more and an Mof 20,000 g/mol or more and at least 0.1 wt % of a branched modifier where the modifier has a g&#x2032;of less than 0.97, wherein the ethylene polymer has a g&#x2032;of at least 0.01 units higher than the g&#x2032;of the branched modifier.

Modified polyethylene film compositions

Provided are blends of branched hydrocarbon comb polymers having tailored branching and molecular weight parameters, with substantially linear polymers. Such blends have been found to have improved extensional rheological properties, while maintaining nearly the viscosity of the substantially linear polymers. The blends of the hydrocarbon comb polymers with the substantially linear polymers thus maintain the extrusion processing characteristics of the linear polymer alone, but have improved extensional flow processability, with strain hardening ratios (SHR) greater than 1. The blends are effective in blown film processing. Also disclosed are related methods for improving extensional flow processability using the branched hydrocarbon comb polymers, as well as the branched hydrocarbon comb polymers themselves, including as a property enhancing additive for such substantially linear polymers.

Branched saturated hydrocarbon polymers as extensional rheology modifiers without impacting shear properties

Provided is a dendritic ethylene polymer. The polymer is a dendritic polymer of an ethylene/alpha-olefin-diene copolymer and a vinyl-terminated polyethylene. There is also provided a process for making a dendritic ethylene polymer. The process includes the steps of preparing a dendritic ethylene polymer by reacting ethylene/alpha-olefin-diene copolymer with vinyl-terminated polyethylene in the presence of a radical source. There is also provided a blend and a blown film that include the dendritic ethylene polymer.

Dendritic ethylene polymers and processes for making

Modified polyethylene blown film compositions having excellent bubble stability

Provided is a multi-arm (greater than 3 arms) star ethylene polymer (sEP). The multi-arm star ethylene polymer is a polymer of an ethylene/maleic anhydride copolymer (EMAC) grafted with vinyl-terminated polyethylene. There are also provided a process for making the sEP and blend of a matrix ethylene polymer and the sEP.

Multi-arm star ethylene polymers and process for making

Provided is a process for making a saturated star hydrocarbon polymer. The process has the following steps: (A) hydrosilylating tetraethylene silicon with methyldichlorosilane in the presence of a hydrosilylating catalyst to form a chlorosilane dendrimer; (B) reacting the chlorosilane dendrimer with vinylmagnesium bromide in the presence of a lithium and/or organolithium initiator stepwise to build a higher generation chlorosilane dendrimer; (C) anionically polymerizing polybutadiene in the presence of a lithium and/or organolithium initiator to form living poly(butadienyl)lithium; (D) attaching the living poly(butadienyl)lithium to the higher generation dendrimer to form a star polybutadiene; and (E) hydrogenating the star polybutadiene to form the saturated star hydrocarbon polymer. There is also provided a saturated star hydrocarbon polymer made according to the above process and a polymer composition of a matrix ethylene polymer and the saturated star hydrocarbon polymer.
