The present invention relates to a method and system for determining a central pulse wave velocity in a pregnant woman. The method comprises receiving an indication of a measurement of a length of a human aortic path outside the body to provide an aortic length, arranging a sound transducer at the position of the anatomical projection of the uterine artery, identifying the opening of the maternal aortic valve with measurement from the sound transducer as a first time, and the pulse wave arrival time at the uterine artery with measurements from the sound transducer as a second time, determining the central transit time based on the difference between the second time and the first time, and calculating the central pulse wave velocity based on the aortic length and the central transit time.

A method for assessment and/or monitoring a person's cardiovascular state comprises: using a sound and vibration transducer to acquire a vascular sound signal in order to detect a vascular sound from a cervical, thoracic, abdominal, pelvic, or lower limb region of the person; filtering the vascular sound signal to isolate the vascular sound, said filtering using a filter which attenuates frequencies below a lower cut-off frequency in a range of 100-300 Hz; and analyzing the filtered sound signal in order to determine whether an indication of a dicrotic notch in the vascular sound exceeds a set threshold.

Method and device for analyzing a condition of a heart

A way of indicating a risk for coronary artery disease is disclosed. A first plurality of first sound recordings of heartbeats and second plurality of second sound recording of the ambient background are obtained. A filtering of each first sound recording is performed by using a simultaneously recorded second sound recording. The filtering of each first sound recording involves determining a diastolic period of the heartbeat of the first sound recording, and performing an adaptive filtering of the first sound recording based in the diastolic period of the first sound recording and the simultaneously recorded second sound recording. This is followed by determination of an indication of the risk for coronary artery disease based on the filtered first sound recordings.

A system for monitoring a fetus in a pregnant woman, and/or the maternal health risk for pregnancies complicated by such as pre-eclampsia and hypertensive disorders is configured to be worn by the pregnant woman, preferably so as to allow monitoring during daily life, e.g. in the form of an adhesive patch. The unit has a sound sensor, e.g. a microphone or accelerometer, to be positioned on the skin of the abdominal area so as to detect a vascular sound from umbilical arteries of the fetus or from the uterine arteries of the pregnant woman. The sound sensor is functionally connected to a processing unit which executes a processing algorithm on the captured vascular sound and extracts a signal parameter accordingly. The processing unit then communicates the signal parameter, e.g. using an audio signal, a visual display or by means of a wired or a wireless data signal.

A method, system, stethoscope and server for classifying a cardiovascular sound recorded from a living subject. The method comprises the steps of: identifying diastolic and/or systolic segments of the cardiovascular sound; dividing at least one of the identified diastolic and/or systolic segments into a number of sub-segments comprising at least a first sub-segment and at least a second sub-segment; extracting from the first sub-segment at least a first signal parameter characterizing a first property of the cardiovascular sound, extracting from the second sub-segment at least a second signal parameter characterizing a second property of the cardiovascular sound; and classifying the cardiovascular sound using the at least first signal parameter and the at least second signal parameter in a multivariate classification method.

This invention describes a method for dividing a substantial cycli cardiovascular signal into segments by determining the characteristics of said cyclic signal, wherein each cycle in said signal comprises at least two characteristic segments and wherein the method comprises the steps o identifying segments in a cycle based on prior knowledge of said segment characteristics and the step of verifying said identified segments based on a number of statistical parameters obtained from prior knowledge relating to said cyclic signal. Method for segmenting a cardiovascular signal

The present invention relates to a medical device for analyzing cardiac related input signals. The device is capable of receiving an ECG-signal and a nerve activity signal, such as vagus nerve signal in order to detect a cardiac related neural activity, such as epilepsy. The device is programmed for detecting a trigger feature (e.g. the R-peak) in the signal and extracting a nerve activity signal segment from the nerve activity signal in response to detecting the trigger feature. An activity related feature is generated either based on a combined signal obtained from a number of nerve activity signal segments, or as a segment-based activity related feature obtained from a number of nerve activity signal segments. Moreover, the device is adapted for comparing the activity related feature to a predefine criterion in order to detect the cardiac related neural activity.

A system and a method for analysis of ECG curvature, which system involves a mathematical analysis comprising the following features where a number of different parameters are isolated and stored in a computer, where a first number of parameters are selected from at least one main group, where the selected parameters are combined in at least a first mathematical analysis. It is the object of the invention to improve mathematical analysis of ECG curvature particular for complex parts of the curvature such as notches or concavities. This can be achieved by selecting parameters from groups of symmetry, flatness, duration and/or complexity, using the parameters as input to an algorithm, where concavity intervals are evaluated on subsegments of the ECG segment and form the basis of up and downwards concavity quantification, where the system based on an algorithm detects and quantifies concavity on ECG curvatures.

The invention relates to segmentation of cardiac acoustic signals, such as the heart sound signal, based on statistical algorithms. A duration-dependent Hidden Markov Model is disclosed which models the shifting states of the heart, based on the cardiac acoustic signal and the time spent in the given states relating to physiological events, e.g. the various states of the heart during the heart beat cycle.

The present invention relates to a system or method for analyzing drug influence on ECG curvature and Long QT Syndrome. The system has an input means connected to an ECG source, where different parameters of a received ECG curvature are indicated and/or isolated for indicating possible symptoms which relate to certain diseases that influence the ECG curvature. The aim of the invention is to achieve a system and a method for diagnosing Long QT Syndrome in an objective, fast and effect way by indication of a number of symptoms derivable from an ECG curve. Further aim is to achieve an effective test of drug influence on ECG curvature. The system analyzes the QT curvature of the ECG curvature for indicating Long QT Syndrome.

A method for evaluating an electrocardiogram is disclosed herein. The method includes measuring an electrical activity of a patient, processing the measured electrical activity to form a multi-lead signal, and extracting a segment of the multi-lead signal. The method for evaluating an electrocardiogram also includes transforming the segment of the multi-lead signal into a synthesized signal that is most representative of the patient's electrical activity, and evaluating the synthesized signal. A corresponding system for evaluating an electrocardiogram is also disclosed.
