The connection member comprises an electrically insulating tubular part for introducing the high-voltage cable provided with an insulation sheath. The tubular part is provided at its free end with a tubular extension part, whose inner diameter is larger than the inner diameter of the tubular part and in which an elastic electrically insulating sealing member is arranged. The sealing member is a hollow cylinder, whose outer diameter is at most equal to the inner diameter of the extension part and whose inner diameter is substantially equal to the outer diameter of the insulation sheath. In the extension part a tubular pressure member is arranged, which in a first position does not deform the sealing member and, after the high-voltage cable has been introduced, can be pressed further into the extension part until it occupies a second position, in which it compresses the sealing member in axial direction so that the sealing member completely fills the space between the insulation sheath and the inner surface of the extension part. The compressed sealing member forms a seal, preventing dirt and moisture from penetrating into the tubular part.

The generator comprises a ferromagnetic core (1) having a primary winding (3) and a secondary winding which comprises a number of concentric secondary coils (7A-7F), which are wound with the same winding senses and have substantially the same number of turns and are provided with a layer of insulating material (9A-9E) between every two consecutive coils. The high-voltage portion of the generator is formed by a number of sections (19A, 19B, 19C), each of which comprises at least two series-arranged secondary coils (7A-7F), the number of secondary coils being equal for all sections and the last coil of each section being arranged in series with a rectifier (13A, 13B, 13C). All sections are arranged in series such that the rectifiers have the same forward directions.

A component holder is arranged on the windings of a diode-split line transformer. On this holder the diodes, the focus bleeder and the high-voltage bleeder can be arranged. The connection strips of the components act as soldering pins for the winding ends. The high voltage is connected via a socket connector which is clamped to the component holder by way of two snap tags. The socket connector is provided with radially extending ribs so as to increase the creepage path. The contact spring of the socket connector has a triangular shape, thus ensuring a large contact surface area.
