The invention relates to methods for capturing a polynucleotide comprising a DNA target segment from a population of polynucleotide molecules using a rotation of a magnetic field to move streptavidin-labeled magnetic beads relative to a buffered liquid medium to increase the probability of capturing and preventing damage to a long polynucleotide comprising a DNA target segment. The methods may use a rotation of the magnetic field relative to the mixture or a rotation of the mixture relative to the magnetic field for causing magnetic bead rotation in the buffered liquid medium and increasing the binding of biotinylated nucleotides of an extended polynucleotide primer to streptavidin-labeled magnetic beads, and winding or condensation of a polynucleotide onto the streptavidin-labeled magnetic beads to prevent damage to the long polynucleotide comprising a DNA target segment.

Method for capturing long polynucleotides for sequencing specific gnomic regions

The invention generally relates to a method of regenerating a nerve fiber in a damaged neural tissue of a patient, the method comprising the steps of: administering an aqueous formulation comprising superparamagnetic particles to the damaged neural tissue in the patient; applying a magnetic field in an orientation which is parallel to the nerve fiber; using the magnetic field for aligning the superparamagnetic particles; forming one or more aligned chains of the superparamagnetic particles in the magnetic field as a scaffold to guide directional growth of regenerating nerve cells; and reconnecting damaged nerve ends in the damaged neural tissue of the patient.

An automated protein preparation technology that may use magnetic microparticles to isolate proteins in their native state from specific genomic loci of interest via the chromatin to which they are bound is described. After extraction, the targeted proteins may be purified for downstream analysis by quantitative mass spectrometry or ELISA. The identification of DNA-bound proteins, histones and their post-translational modification is of high scientific and pharmaceutical importance due to the role of DNA-binding proteins in the cauzation and development of human disease; in particular, cancer.

A genetic analysis device particularly for determining the presence or absence of Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) within specific sequences of DNA. The device includes a housing, at least one glass slide member, and an elastomeric member with channels thereon. Oligo arrays are spotted on the glass slide member(s) and subjected to DNA samples, reagents or the like. A plurality of openings or ports allow entry of samples, reagents or wash materials, while a plurality of exit ports or openings allow removal of such materials. The assay devices can be used for multiple samples or a single sample. A plurality of synthesis devices can be positioned in a support base in order to allow sampling in an automated manner. The synthesis devices can be provided in a 96 well microtiter format.
