A device for measuring a wear condition on the plain bearing surface of a sensor plate comprises a measuring apparatus, which has wear sensors of a sensor plate integrated into the plain bearing surface. To capture the material removal at the plain bearing surface due to wear an evaluation apparatus is in signal connection with the wear sensors. The evaluation apparatus is designed, with respect to programming, in such a way that a change, in particular an increase, in the ohmic resistance value of the electrical conductor of a certain wear sensor can be captured in dependence on its own material removal, in order to thereby ensure that the amount of the material removal at the plain bearing surface and/or the remaining thickness of the plain bearing surface at the location of said certain wear sensor can be inferred from the detected change in the resistance value.

Device and method for measuring a wear condition of plain bearing or guide elements

A cooling group for a laminar cooling device, including at least one cooling unit arranged above and below a strip to be cooled in order to supply the strip with a cooling liquid, including a central inlet via which cooling liquid is supplied, a distributing tube supplied with cooling liquid by the central inlet, and a number of supplying units supplied with cooling liquid from the distributing tube. Each supplying unit has a number of cooling nozzles via which cooling liquid is discharged onto the strip. In order to minimize the influence of the number of supplying units which are switched on or switched off, and thus have as little expenditure as possible, a volumetric flow rate regulating valve is arranged in or in front of the central inlet. The regulating valve is used to conduct a defined volume of cooling liquid through the central inlet per unit of time.

A seal () for sealing a lubricant space prevents lubricant () escaping. A rolling stand has a seal of this kind. The seal () is made at least partially from elastic material. To enable a pressing force FR, with which the bottom face () of the seal is pressed against an opposite contact surface (), for example of a roll journal (), to be variably set, the seal () has at least two cavities, which are separated from each other in the circumferential direction and which are open towards the lubricant space of the bearing.

A metallurgical device, in particular a casting installation, rolling mill or strip processing installation, including at least one machine part rotating about an axis, wherein an energy consumer that is in electrical connection with an energy source is arranged in the machine part. To supply the energy consumer with energy on a sustained basis in spite of adverse ambient conditions, the energy source is designed as a generator which is in connection with the rotating machine part for rotation therewith, wherein the generator is otherwise free of any mechanical connection with the metallurgical device and wherein the generator has a housing element, on which at least one eccentric mass arranged at a location that is at a distance radially from the axis.

Metallurgical device with self-powered sensing

A device and a method for cooling metal strips or sheets conveyed on a conveyor line, in particular hot-rolled strips in the outlet of a rolling train. For these purposes, the device includes at least one cooling beam extending across the width of the conveyor line, and the cooling beam features a connection point to which a supply tube for cooling liquid can be connected, and a number of discharge openings arranged along a longitudinal axis of the cooling beam, such that cooling liquid can be discharged through the discharge openings in the direction of the metal strip or sheet that is to be cooled. Associated with each of the individual discharge openings is a respectively adjusted flow area, such that the flow areas of the respective discharge openings decrease in a direction leading away from the connecting point along the longitudinal axis of the cooling beam.

Device for cooling metal strips or sheets

A roll stand for the rolling of rolling stock, especially metal products. The roll stand includes at least two chocks for mounting at least one roll, the roll being rotatably mounted in the chocks by its two cylindrical roll necks. A cylindrical neck bushing is arranged on the roll neck with radial play. A rotationally fixed annual axial bearing is axially offset from the neck bushing. The bearing arrangement for the roll necks in the chocks is formed as a plain bearing, preferably a hydrodynamic oil film bearing. When subjected to a load in a rolling process, the neck bushing moves and deforms not only in the radial direction, but also in the axial direction.

Roll stand

The invention relates to a rolling stand for the rolling of metallic rolling stock. The rolling is achieved with the aid of a roll of which the two roll journals () are rotatably mounted in recesses () of chocks (). The recesses are supplied with coolant and/or lubricant via a high-pressure inlet () and at least one low-pressure inlet (). The high-pressure inlet is fed via high-pressure conduits () from a high-pressure pump (). To reduce the costs for driving the high-pressure pump in relation to the prior art, the invention provides that the high-pressure pump is rotationally coupled to the roll journal via a gear mechanism in order to be driven thereby.

Rolling stand for the rolling of rolling stock

A volume flow regulating valve for controlling the volume flow of a fluid medium in two outflow ducts. The volume flow regulating valve is composed of a cylinder with a dual piston mounted axially displaceably in the cylinder, with a central pressure chamber being formed in the region of the barbell-shaped central piece of the dual piston. Aside from an inlet for the fluid medium, it is also the case that the two outlet ducts are provided at the central pressure chamber. The outlet ducts are arranged on the cylinder with such an axial spacing that&#x2014;when the dual piston is situated in a central position in relation to the two outlet ducts&#x2014;the first outlet duct&#x2014;preferably partially covered by the first piston&#x2014;and the second outlet duct&#x2014;preferably partially covered by the second piston&#x2014;each open up an equal opening cross-sectional area.

Volume flow regulating valve

The invention relates to a device and a method for cooling a roll. The roll concerned can be a roller in a roll stand or a measuring roll. The device comprises a cooling shell having a cross section in the shape of a section of a circular arc, for covering a surface region of the roll (), wherein, in the region of an edge of the cooling shell, a bearing is formed with a pivot joint () with an axis of rotation running perpendicular to the circular arc-shaped cross-section, for pivoting the cooling shell about the axis of rotation. According to the invention, in order to ensure that the size of the cooling gap during the rolling operation or during the operation of a measuring roll is always autonomously optimally set, the bearing has a degree of freedom in radial direction r with respect to the circular arc-shaped cross-section of the cooling shell, such that the cooling shell is mounted in the bearing in such a way as to be freely movable in the radial direction.

Device and method for cooling a roll

A method and a device for controlling a parameter, for example the profile or the flatness, of a rolled stock in strip form. A cooling jacket that can be brought up to the roll and is designed to be variable in its effective length b in the circumferential direction of the roll is used as a final controlling element.

Method and device for controlling a parameter of a rolled stock

A roll arrangement for rolling rolling material in a rolling system. The roll arrangement includes a roll that is rotatably mounted by its roll journal in a bearing bush of a chock. A ring gap for receiving a lubricant is formed between the bearing bush and the roll journal. The ring gap is sealed both on the ball side of the chock and on the side of the chock away from the balls, using sealing rings. In order to increase the load capacity or the rolling force of a roll arrangement while maintaining or reducing the construction size thereof and without the roll arrangement overheating, discharge channels are provided in a through-flow angular range of the bearing bush for discharging the lubricant out of the ring gap into an oil-receiving chamber.

Roll arrangement

To increase the load-carrying capacity or rolling capacity of a roll assembly in a rolling mill, throttle elements are used, which shut off the lateral flow of the lubricating film in a partial region between the roll neck and the bearing surface of the roll neck bearing assembly, thereby bringing about an increase in pressure in the lubricating film. At least one throttle element is embodied as an annular segment, forming an angular shut-off region for the lubricant in the annular gap. The invention makes it possible for existing installations to be easily retrofitted, without the need for structural modifications. In the case of new installations, the same load-carrying capacity as before can be provided while the dimensions of the installation space are reduced. The load-carrying capacity of the bearing assembly can be flexibly adjusted based on the dimensions of the shut-off region for the flow of lubricant.

Roll assembly for rolls in a rolling mill

A strip deflector has a base body formed with a tip, a compressed-air chamber, and a nozzle for emitting compressed air. A compressed-air source in flow communication with the compressed-air chamber feeds compressed air to the compressed-air chamber and the nozzle. This nozzle has a first nozzle subpassage in flow communication with the compressed-air chamber and a second nozzle subpassage downstream of the first nozzle subpassage in a flow direction. The first nozzle subpassage is formed by a flank closer to the tip of the base body and an opposite flank remote from the tip of the base body, and, at a transition from the first nozzle subpassage to the second nozzle subpassage, the flank closer to the tip of the base body is bent away toward the tip of the base body so as to form a first separation edge.

Strip deflector and roll assembly

The invention relates to a method for processing heated material (), wherein the material is guided along a conveying path and is covered and protected against heat loss in the region of the conveying path by at least one reflector element (), wherein the reflector element () is cooled by means of a liquid. According to the invention, in order to guarantee efficient cooling of the reflector without costly measures, the liquid is glycol or comprises glycol or the liquid is alcohol or comprises alcohol or the liquid is thermal oil.

A device for cooling a roll for rolling materials, including a cooling shell opposite a sub-region of the roll surface circumference, for forming a cooling gap, through which a cooling fluid can flow, between the sub-region and the cooling shell. The device further includes a first lever which can be pivoted about a suspension point, which can be pivoted toward the roll surface, and which is rotatably connected to a first end region of the cooling shell, when viewed in the circumferential direction of the roll, and a second lever which can be pivoted about another suspension point, which can be pivoted toward the roll surface, and which is rotatably connected to the second end region of the cooling shell, when viewed in the circumferential direction of the roll, such that the cooling gap can be selectively reduced or increased by pivoting the levers.
