An arrangement for measuring the reflection and/or transmission of an object comprises a frame 1, a carrier 7 for the object, a radiation source 15 and a detector unit. The detector unit, which comprises one or more radiation-sensitive detectors 17A, 17B may be arranged on a holder 13 which is pivotable about a pivotal axis 13a. A slide 5, which is movable parallel to the pivotal axis, may be provided for moving the carrier and the detector unit rectilinearly towards and away from one another.

Arrangement for measuring the reflection and/or transmission of an object

An oxide cathode comprising a metal base substantially consisting of titanium and a heating element for heating said base, on which base a porous layer comprising an alkaline earth metal oxide is provided. The cathode has a comparatively low operating temperature, a short warm up time and a low power requirement.

A gas discharge laser in which at least the inner wall of the laser tube is manufactured for the greater part from a gehlenite glass thereby providing a laser having a long life. The gehlenite glass can better withstand the eroding effect of the gas discharge so that the rate at which the optical elements are contaminated is greatly reduced.
