The invention relates to a cylindrical container comprising a bottom, a cylindrical body and a lid. The invention has for its object to design a container of the kind set forth so that it satisfies requirements with respect to strength and stackability and can, moreover, be manufactured at economically permissible, additional costs. According to the invention the container comprises a reinforcing layer fixed to the surface of at least the central zone of the body throughout the circumference thereof. It is preferred to use a container whose reinforcing layer is fixed to the entire body surface.

Cylindrical container

The invention relates to a method of manufacturing a body for a container, in which a body having a weldseam along its longitudinal direction is formed by bending material in sheet form and welding the overlapping edges of the bended material together, and the wall of the body having the longitudinal weldseam is thinned. Preferably thinning is obtained by wall-ironing. It is advantageous that the wall thickness of a wall part close to wall end of the body is larger than that of a remaining part of the body and eventually prior to thinning has been reduced and that prior to being reduced the body is provided with a gripping rim and/or cover.

Method and apparatus of manufacturing a body of a container, same body

The invention relates to a metallic container particularly for foodstuff or beverages comprising a circumferential wall, a bottom and a lid, in which container is prevailing a lower pressure than the atmospheric pressure in the filled and closed state. The invention has for its object to construct a metallic container in a manner such that the desired mechanical strength can be obtained even with a very small wall thickness and hence at very low costs of material. The invention has furthermore for its object to design a metallic container in a manner such that the probability of undersirable deformation is substantially excluded. For the above-mentioned purposes the invention provides a metallic container the circumferential wall of which has at least one zone that can be pressed inwards by the effect of the difference between the atmospheric pressure and the pressure inside the container.

Metallic container

The disclosure relates to a method of manufacturing a body formed of a shaped sheet metal blank having an opening tear strip terminating in a tongue. Overlapping edges of the blank are welded together and at the tear strip melting of a tin coating of the blank occurs so that at the tear strip the edges of the blank are linked by melted tin, or welding is completely interrupted to form a slot at the tear strip between the overlapping edges of the blank and the slot using a sealing material. Further, the disclosure relates to a metal blank for a can body having a tear strip formed there across by two weakening scores extending transversely to the edges of the blank and terminating in a tongue. The tear strip at one of the edges of the blank is provided with a covering and/or oxide layer which has a relatively low electrical conductivity.
