A printhead which comprises a body with pressure chambers (13) and nozzles (14), a membrane (17) connected to the body so as to form one wall of the pressure chambers, and an actuator plate (25) comprising an actuator element (31) for each pressure chamber. A support plate (19) between the actuator plate and the membrane includes first portions (21) and second portions (23) with the first portions being movable relative to the second portions in the direction of the thickness of the support plate, a first portion being situated between each actuator element and the corresponding pressure chamber. The actuator plate has active regions (31) and inactive regions (33), the actuator elements being formed by active regions of the actuator plate. Adjacent actuator elements are separated from each other over substantially their whole length by slits (35) in the actuator plate. The actuator plate can be a ceramic multilayer actuator (CMA).

Ink jet printhead and ink jet printer

A switching power supply with synchronous rectification by means of a diode and a parallel-connected electronic switch. By means of a one-shot circuit the electronic switch is driven into conduction during a fixed portion of the time period during which the diode would be conductive without the electronic switch.

Switching voltage converter with synchronous rectification

A device for generating a control signal voltage which is dependent on a resistance value of a variable resistor (8) includes a transformer (24) having a first winding (22) which is in series with the variable resistor and a rectifier diode (20). A current generator (32) coupled to a power source is coupled to a second winding (26) of the transformer and supplies it with a periodically interrupted current (I.sub.2). Upon each such interruption an exponentially decreasing current will flow through the first winding and also through the variable resistor (8). The peak value of the voltage drop produced by such current across that resistor is proportional to the resistance value thereof. It is also produced across the first winding (22) and is detected by the peak detector (62). That constitutes the control voltage (U.sub.c). Since the variable resistor is fully electrically isolated from the power source, it can be safely touched without shock hazard.

Device for generating a control signal dependent on a variable

In a refrigerating system comprising a reciprocating compressor (1), a condensor (2), an expansion means (3), an evaporator (5), a temperature-sensitive control element (6) for on/off control of the compressor, a refrigerant-pressure-dependent valve (4) is used for shutting off the flow of refrigerant between the condensor and the evaporator when the compressor is off and for allowing the flow of refrigerant between the condensor and the evaporator when the compressor is on. The valve (4) comprises a pressure-sensitive means (9) which is movable under the influence of the condensor outlet pressure which prevails at one side of the pressure-sensitive means, while the pressure at the other side of the pressure-sensitive means depends on the saturation pressure of a liquid in a circuit which includes a bulb (15) arranged at a location where it is exposed to the influence of ambient temperature.
