An encapsulated particle comprises a core particle, a transferrable-pesticide disposed about the core particle, and a polyurethane layer disposed about the transferrable-pesticide. The core particle comprises a fertilizer, such as urea. The transferrable-pesticide can comprise a dinitroaniline, such as pendimethalin. The polyurethane layer is generally formed from a reaction mixture having a maximum temperature of no greater than about 30&#xb0; C. The polyurethane layer inhibits the transferrable-pesticide from transferring to a surface different from the core particle when the encapsulated particle physically contacts the surface. A method of forming the encapsulated particle comprises the steps of encapsulating the core particle with the transferrable-pesticide to form an intermediate-particle, combining an isocyanate and a polyol to form the reaction mixture, and encapsulating the intermediate-particle with the reaction mixture to form the polyurethane layer of the encapsulated particle. The polyurethane layer comprises the reaction product of the isocyanate and polyol.

Encapsulated fertilizer particle containing pesticide

Disclosed are scratch resistant polypropylene molded parts comprising a) a polypropylene substrate and incorporated therein a combination of b) an alpha, beta-unsaturated carboxylic reagent functionalized olefin polymer or copolymer, c) a primary or secondary fatty acid amide and d) a nucleating agent selected from the group consisting of sodium benzoate, 2,2'-methylene-bis(4,6-di-tert-butylphenyl)phosphate, zinc glycerolate, calcium salt of 1,2-dicarboxylic acid cyclohexane and sodium salt of 1,2-dicarboxylic acid norbornane. Also disclosed is a method for providing scratch resistance to a polypropylene molded part by incorporating said additives. The polypropylene substrate is for instance polypropylene homopolymer or thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO). Component b) is for instance maleated polypropylene or the reaction product of an alpha-olefin and maleic anhydride. The fatty acid amide is for instance stearyl erucamide or oleyl palmitamide. The molded parts are suitable for automotive parts. The molded parts also advantageously contain a filler, for example talc.

Scratch resistant polypropylene

A vapor vent hose is adapted to be assembled to a nipple. The nipple has a first end, an outside diameter and a barb. The barb has a tapered first end adjacent the end of the nipple and a second end with a substantially radially extending face. The hose and nipple are provided in a fuel vapor system. The hose has a first end with an inside diameter fitting over the nipple. The first end has a cuff axially spaced from the end of the hose. The cuff is substantially undeformed radially after installation over the barb.

In a vehicle with an internal combustion engine and a fuel vapor recovery system including a carbon canister connected to the fuel tank for collecting fuel vapors from the fuel tank as the tank is being refilled, an air filtering apparatus is provided to supply a flow of clean and dry purge air to the canister for the purging of vapors therefrom. The air filtering apparatus includes gradually spaced baffle means and filter element means and is remotely connected in the evaporative emission control system by hoses connected to the air inlet and air outlet of the canister.
