A label which is attachable to object surfaces includes a pressure sensitive adhesive layer having a coat weight equal to or higher than 10 g/m. The adhesive layer has a composition which is free of alkylphenol ethoxylate and has been selected to comprise emulsion polymerized, water-dispersible acrylate polymer and non-ionic copolymer based on polyethylene glycol and polypropylene glycol such that when the adhesive layer is subjected to paper recycling process conditions, the adhesive layer resists disintegration into small fragments.

A linerless thermal label web includes layers in the following order: a release layer, a thermal paper comprising a heat sensitive part, and an adhesive layer, wherein the adhesive layer includes an adhesive deadening varnish at longitudinal edge areas of the linerless thermal web so as to reduce the tackiness of the adhesive layer in the longitudinal edge areas. A thermal label can be produced from the label web and the label web can be used for variable information printing applications.

The invention relates to an adhesive composition, labels and label laminates containing the adhesive composition, wherein the adhesive composition comprises at least the following components: polymer(s) based on alkyl acrylic ester(s) and pressure polymerized vinyl acetate ethylene copolymer(s) comprising ethylene content between 5 and 40%. Further the invention relates to use of an adhesive composition for label laminates and labels, to use of a label for labelling of an item and to a labelled item.
