The invention provides for a dental or surgical handpiece with an elongated handle sleeve () and a head piece () attached to the front end of the handle sleeve () that serves to to detachably receive a dental tool as well as for a clamping mechanism () formed in the head piece () to detachably hold the tool, the clamping mechanism () having a push-button () for actuating the clamping mechanism (). The handpiece further has an RFID transponder () for identifying the handpiece. The push-button () consists of a heat-insulating electrically non-conductive plastic or m ceramic material with a plate-shaped recess that holds the RFID transponder (). The push-button () has a flat round shape so that the RFID transponder (), because of the equally flat round shape of its coil, can be integrated very well into it. Particularly advantageous ambient electrical conditions can be achieved for the RFID transponder as the push-button () is made of an electrically non-conductive material. An advantageous thermal insulation is provided as the push-button () is made of a heat-insulating material.

A device for positioning a printing head of a printer in response to recording carrier/substrate thickness includes a reflex sensor arranged in a protected space formed between a head-carrying carriage and an opposing printing head housing surface. During printer initialization or upon insertion of a recording carrier/substrate having a thickness greater than a predetermined thickness, the printing head is slightly displaced with respect to the carriage as a result of brief contact of the printing head print surface with the recording carrier that is supported on a printing abutment. The reflex sensor measures the displacement travel distance of the printing head and generates an input signal to an evaluation circuit. The evaluation circuit generates an output control signal to a carriage displacement drive in response to the measured displacement of the print head to automatically set the distance between the printing head and the recording carrier or printing abutment.

A matrix pin print head is set to a fixed distance (17) relative to a print counter support (2), where a recording substrate (3) rests on the print counter support (2). An ink ribbon (4) is guided in front of the print pins (5) between the matrix pin print head (1) and the recording substrate (3). Electromagnetic-coil pin drives (8, 9, 10) are coordinated jointly to the print pins (5) or individually to each print pin (5). Each print pin (5) can be moved within a stroke path (16) from a rearward withdrawn position (18) into a forward extended position (19) and back. In order to adjust the operating air gap (25) between a magnet yoke (9) and a clapper armature (10) during its operation, it is provided that the drive energy, fed of equal size in each case to each print pin (5), is changeable in each case in uniform amounts, i.e. by equal amounts, to enlarge or to decrease the drive energy fed to the respective print pin (5).

Back stop structure for matrix pin print head

A matrix pin print head with a print pin guide casing (7) and a print pin drive casing (9) comprises an electromagnetic drive (12). The electromagnetic drive (12) comprises a magnet yoke (13) with an electromagnetic coil (14) disposed on a magnet yoke arm (13a) and with an armature (15). The armature (15) can be pivoted based on a pin bearing (16) and rests in a rearward position against a stop (18) by means of a spring (17). An operating air gap (20) is formed between the armature (15) and a magnet yoke arm front face (19). A recess (22) is disposed in the middle of the magnet yoke thickness (21) to furnish the preconditions for an assembly line production exhibiting the corresponding precision and a correspondingly bundled magnetic flux. A pin driving arm (15a) of the armature is pivotably supported in the recess (22) by way of the hinge pin (23), wherein the hinge pin axis (23a) runs laterally to the region of the magnet yoke arm center (24).

In a vibration frame (1) for print elements (2) of a matrix line printer, the print elements (2) are furnished in the clapper armature construction. The print elements (2) form neighboring component units in line direction (3) in or, respectively, at a profile rod (7). Said component units include, in each case, a magnetic yoke (8), an electromagnetic coil (9), a clapper armature (10), a clapper armature pivoting hinge support (11), a restoring spring (12), and print elements (2) attached at the clapper armature (10). In order to create a space-saving lateral guiding for the clapper armature (10), the clapper armature (10) is, in each case, laterally guided and pivotably movable by at least one tongue (15), extending perpendicular to the longitudinal extension and engaging into a recess (16). The restoring spring (12) is formed as an arm spring (17). The arm spring (17) forms with a spring arm (18) a second lateral guide for the clapper armature (10).

An electromagnetic drive (5) for longitudinal motions is in each case furnished for each print pin (3) in a matrix pin print head (1). Guide mouthpieces (9), movable back and forth or, respectively, up and down, are furnished for the generation of speed and letter-quality printing. A lifting magnet device (10) serves for two defined end positions of a magnet armature (11). In order to dispose the lifting magnet device (10) within the smallest possible space, i.e. as compact as possible, and in order to improve the switching frequency, the lifting magnet device (10) is altogether disposed and attached, respectively, in a region (15) immediately adjacent to the guide mouthpiece (9) and includes a magnet yoke (17) with two or several magnet poles (18, 19). An armature body (21) is movable back and forth or, respectively, up and down between the predetermined and coordinated distance (20) of two unlike magnet poles (18, 19) by switching on or switching off or by changing polarity of the switched on lifting magnet coil (22). The guide mouthpiece (9) is attached to the guided armature body (21).

A matrix print head comprises several armature device groups which, in each case, comprise a magnet yoke (9) with an electromagnetic coil (10), disposed on one of the magnet yoke arms (9a), and an armature (8), which armature serves as a drive for a print element (2). The armature (8) can be moved in a rapid sequence against the pole faces (20b) of the magnet yokes (9) and back into a rest position. In order to reduce the wear at the pole faces (20a and 20b) or, respectively, at the wear faces (18), high temperature-stable lubricants can be disposed and intercalated in capillary hollow spaces (17) of armatures (8) and/or magnet yokes (9). These capillary hollow spaces (17) are adjoining and running to the wear faces (18).

A method for production of an armature device group for matrix print heads of the clapper-armature construction is based on connecting and jointly processing prefabricated parts (1, 2) such that elongated armatures with wide armature arms (4) and narrower armature arms (5) are generated. For further decreasing the production costs and for increasing the precision of the armature coordination, for facilitating mounting and for saving assembly steps, an armature circle (1) is punched out with openings (6). An annular elastic shaped plate (2) of sheet metal is then attached covering the opening (6) and the radially outer and radially inner armature arms (4, 5) are then cut out employing a method such as thermal cutting or, respectively, water-torch cutting, without damaging of the shaped plate (2).
