Fan clutch

The invention concerns an overrunning clutch for receiving a shaft ( ), said overrunning clutch comprising an outer ring having clamping surfaces, a cage ( ) equipped with clamping rollers ( ) and spring elements ( ) for suspending the clamping rollers ( ) being arranged in the outer ring. The clamping rollers ( ) comprise a frustoconical bevel ( ) on at least one end face, so that when the shaft ( ) is not inserted, the enveloping circle diameter D of the conic frustum at its outer end is equal to or larger than the diameter D of the shaft ( ). This enables an automatic assembly of the entire overrunning clutch because the shaft ( ) can be inserted without any problem into the cage ( ).

Clamping roller overrunning clutch

A locking roller overrunning clutch comprising an outer bush (2) having a radial flange (10) at one front end, locking ramps (9) for locking rollers (7) being circumferentially spaced along an inner periphery of the outer bush (2), the overrunning clutch further comprising a cage (3) arranged within the outer bush (2) and having pockets (6) for lodging the locking rollers (7), the pockets (6) being defined by end rings (4) of the cage (3) and by circumferentially spaced crossbars (5) which connect the end rings (4) to each other, at least one of the end rings (4) comprising centering lugs (12) for interlocking with the locking ramps (9), characterized in that the locking ramps (9) extend in axial direction up to an open front end of the outer bush (2) situated away from the radial flange (10), and at least the end ring (4) arranged at the open front end of the outer bush (2) comprises a sealing lip (13) arranged on the end ring (4) on a peripheral surface thereof facing the outer bush (2) and seals a gap formed between the end ring (4) and the bush (2).

Locking roller overrunning clutch

An overrunning clutch comprising two concentric machine components (1,2) rotatable relative to each other and having locking surfaces (13,14) formed on their mutually facing peripheral surfaces, and, arranged therebetween, a plastic cage (4) comprising end rings (15) connected to each other by crossbars (16), pockets (17) for locking elements (3) spring-urged against the locking surfaces (13,14) being formed between circumferentially adjacent crossbars (16), the plastic cage (4) further comprising at least one radial projection (19) which engages into a recess (20) of one of the machine components (2) to prevent rotation of the plastic cage (4) relative to this machine component (2), characterized in that the radial projection (19) is arranged on a crossbar (16).

Rotation preventing device for a plastic cage of an overrunning clutch

An overrunning clutch (1) provided with a bushing (2) which is open at one end and partially closed at the opposite end and into which are inserted firstly a cage (5) guiding latching needles (3) and comprising at least one flange and clutch springs (4), and secondly a slide ring (6) arranged on one end of the cage (5), the axial width of the bushing (2) overlapping the cage (5) and the slide ring (6), characterized in that the flange (9) of the cage (5) is positively and releasably coupled with a flange (13, 13d) of the bushing (2).

Switchable freewheel with locking elements

An overrunning clutch comprising a clamping ring provided with clamping ramps and spring-loaded clamping rollers housed in pockets of a cage and associated with the clamping ramps, the clutch being switchable from a first indexing position into a second by rotation of the cage with respect to the clamping ring. The cage is characterized by either directly or with the help of an intermediate member on the one hand, and the clamping ring with projections and recesses on the other, engage in each other in such a way after the fashion of a screw thread that when the cage or the intermediate member, as the case may be, is axially displaced, the cage executes a movement of rotation with respect to the clamping ring.

Switchable clamping roller overrunning clutch

A one-piece synthetic plastic cage for retention of clamping rollers in an overrunning roller clutch has two spaced-apart coaxial rims, axially parallel bars extending between the rims and defining roller pockets, and a discrete leaf spring for each bar. The springs are integral with one of the rims and are located radially outwardly of the corresponding bars so that they can bypass such bars by moving in the circumferential direction of the rims. One leg of each spring is integral with the one rim, and the other leg is integral with the one leg and has a free end which bears against the clamping roller in the corresponding pocket.
