An ice-cream maker having a cylindrical container, into which a discoid cold cartridge is insertable, and an electric motor, through a gear unit, drives a shaft located in the container. The shaft includes a scraper and stirrer tool acting at least together with the cold cartridge. The cold cartridge is provided, around its circumference, with a continuous, outwardly projecting edge and the container interior wall is provided, around its circumference, with a corresponding step extending into the inside of the container. A cold cartridge inserted into the ice-cream maker lodges its projecting edge on this step and at least the bottom wall of the cold cartridge is located at a distance from the container wall.

A discoil cold cartridge filled with a latent heat storage medium of which a discoid main wall (1) serves to act together with a scraper and stirrer of an ice-cream maker, is formed by at least two parts joined together, of which one part consists of the discoid main wall (1) facing the scraper and stirrer tool and the other part of a trough-shaped base (2). The discoid main wall (1) serves to act together with the scraper and stirrer tool and is designed as an inherently stable die-cast part least one wall of the base (2) is itself reversibly adaptable to the change in volume of the latent heat storage medium in phase transition.

Discoid cold cartridge insertable into an ice-cream maker

A discoid cold cartridge filled with a latent heat storage medium, is formed from at least two parts joined together, of which one part includes the discoid main wall facing the scraper and stirrer tool and the other part of a trough-shaped base. The discoid main wall serving to act together with the scraper and stirrer tool has an inherently stable, curved shape and at least one wall of the base is reversibly adaptable to the change in volume of the latent heat storage medium in phase transition.

A protection against overheating not only of the heat transmitting component (2), but also of the components (3) surrounding said component is achieved. A latent heat store (1) is provided between the heat transmitting component (2) or a part thereof and a component (3) to be protected from overheating or a part thereof. The latent heat store (1) comprises a latent heat storing agent, whose melting-point T is between the operating temperature of the heat transmitting component (2) and the maximum permissible temperature of the component (3) to be protected. The quantity is proportioned so that the storage capacity of the latent heat store (1) is sufficient for the amount of heat maximally to be transmitted by the heat transmitting component (2). Between the heat transmitting component (2) and the latent heat source (1) and between the latent heat store (1) and the component (3) to be protected a thermal insulation (4,5) is provided. The melting-point T of the latent heat storing agent and the thicknesses d of the insulations (4,5) are proportioned so that the temperature gradient .DELTA.T/d from the heat transmitting component (2) which is at operating temperature to the latent heat store (1) is greater than the temperature gradient .DELTA.T/d from the latent heat store (1) to the component (3) to be protected.

Cooling arrangement for heat generating electrical components

Projection television display tube comprising an evacuated envelope having a display window provided on its inside with a display screen, a transparent second window which is disposed in front of said display window on its outside, and a transparent coolant flowing through the space between the display window and the second window, said coolant conveying the heat taken up at the display window through a cooling member to the atmosphere. The coolant is also in thermally conducting contact with a latent heat accumulator, so that an effective cooling is obtained even at peak loads of more than 40 W, and without external pipes.

A latent heat-storage device for cooling purposes includes a non-deformable closed container, and a heat-storage medium comprising water or a eutectic aqueous solution of a salt contained in the container. The heat-storage medium expands in volume as its temperature is lowered through its phase transition from fluid to solid. The amount of the heat-storage medium is such that a part of the container volume equals or is slightly larger than the maximum volume expansion of the heat-storage medium during operation of the device. A gas condensing between room temperature and the melting temperature of the heat-storage medium fills the container part at atmospheric pressure and room temperature.

The increase in volume of a heat storage medium comprising water or a first eutectic mixture of water and a salt hydrate, when such storage medium passes from the liquid to the solid state, is prevented from occurring by adding 1 to 6% by volume of a second water-salt hydrate eutectic having a lower freezing point to the storage medium.

Thermal storage device

There is provided heat transport apparatus comprising a closed tube having an evaporator and a condenser with the condenser being positioned above the evaporator during operation. The closed tube includes a heat transport medium which, during operation, is vaporized in the evaporator and condensed in the condenser, the resulting condensate being returned to the evaporator. A valve is positioned in the closed tube in the condenser region for controlling the condensate return. A pressure-expansion chamber is arranged within the closed tube and is connected to the valve for closing the same when the vapor pressure in the condenser exceeds a given value. A pressure-equalization duct forms part of the valve and provides communication between the evaporator and the condenser.

Heat transport device

A heat storage device comprising a closed reservoir within which is positioned a flexible closed container of smaller volume. The flexible container encloses a liquefiable heat-accumulating material; and the reservoir is provided with a heat-transport medium outside of the flexible container. The heat-transport medium always remains in the liquid phase and, upon solidification and shrinkage of the heat-accumulating material, fills the spaces thus formed between the flexible container and the reservoir wall in order to maintain adequate transfer of heat.
