A method for producing a package with the following steps is described. Forming of a container () in a web of a first web material (); subsequent sealing of a cover () onto the container produced within an outer contour of the package to be produced; and thereafter cutting of the container () out of the first web material () along the outer contour of the package to be produced and outside of an outer contour of the cover () sealed thereon.

A reclosable package includes a tray, a top sheet, and a fastener. The tray has a well for receiving contents and a peripheral flange surrounding the well. The top sheet is attached to the peripheral flange. The fastener has two interlocking members, one attached to the peripheral flange and the other attached to the top sheet. A tamper-evident feature located on the package prevents access to the fastener and is connected thereto by one or two lines of weaknesses. In one embodiment with one or two lines of weakness in the top sheet, the fastener remains adjacent to the tray's peripheral flange, which is intact after the tamper-evident feature is removed by tearing along these lines of weakness. In a second embodiment with two lines of weakness, the tamper-evident feature, comprised of portions of the peripheral flange and the top sheet, is torn from the package along both lines of weakness.

A packaging machine and a method for cutting packages is provided in which containers () are formed from a web of film () and transported through working stations of the packaging machine in a fixed-cycle way. After filling and sealing, the web of film () comprising the containers () is cut transverse to the transport direction () in a first cutting station () and in a succeeding second cutting station () cut in transport direction such that singularised packages result. The second cutting station () is operated intermittently in a fixed-cycle way and preferably is formed as a punch. By this, a precise taking-over of the packages for the subsequent processing is possible.

An upper film located in a distance above the product is clamped along an edge surrounding the tray and is deformed in a direction extending away from the product. In this way, the seam of the upper film and the edge of the tray is attained to be free from creases such that a long-living and good looking package is produced. The present invention relates to a packaging machine which has transport means in the form of two transport chains () for lateral grasping and transporting of a length of material () consisting of packaging material. In particular with longer plants above approximately 10 meters in transport length the stretching property of the transport chains owing to the load has a marked effect on the precision of the transport distance. This results in fluctuations of the transport distance between the two transport chains and therefore distortions of the length of material, which, depending on the type of packaging material, can even lead to tearing of the length of material. In order to minimize these fluctuations, the first transport means () has a first engagement element () engaging in the first transport means () and the second transport means () a second engagement element () engaging in the second transport means (), the first engagement element () being coupled to the second engagement element () in such a way that the two engagement elements are synchronized.

The second lifting member comprises drive means and mechanical transmission means having means for producing substantially constant closing force for the second closing travel upon occurrence of a resistance. The bag is hermetically closed by generating a seal joint. Cutting means are provided for severing the bag collar projecting beyond the seal joint. Means for supplying blow air into the chamber and an opening for blowing the severed bag collar out of the chamber are provided for removing the severed bag collar from the chamber.
